With so many excellent eateries these days why would you ever go somewhere like GPK Kevin? The reason i say this is a previous bad experience in which a waiter and chef argued that rocket on top of the risotto supposedly garnished with basil was in fact basil. I will NEVER use those immortal words "I am a chef you know" but I was very close that day!

Anyway we moved to the area and just wanted a quick pasta so thought we would give it a try again as i know the chef has changed and it was a long time ago. They have a lunch special at the moment which is two courses and a glass of wine for 29.50. We both went for that, me ordering the Squid then fish of the day and the wife the tomato Mozzarella salad and chicken pasta for mains.

I was quite surprised at the food to be honest, I have been before as mentioned above and found that the food lacked flavour and imagination but today's experience was different. My squid was delicious and Moorish and after looking at my wife's entree i would say they only bad point is there could of been more! The tomato, mozzarella salad was big for an entree but clean and fresh tasting.

The main Fish was very good, fresh snapper with some delicious prawns this made me think if the chef has free reign on the specials then perhaps this shows his skill as oppose to having to follow a "brand menu" as the dish was completely different in presentation and size compared to the rest of the food and was excellent with it.
The chicken pasta was so good as well. Every speck of spaghetti was eaten. It was chicken thighs with pine nuts, sage and fried shallots, it was a quite an authentic dish and perfectly seasoned.

If I was picky the service is a little missing especially when they get busier and they forgot our drinks after the first round and only as we were leaving did they remember but the food was good and we would probably return in the same circumstances.

Ive eaten here a number of times. Ive had some "club meetings" where we have eaten our dinner and discussed business at the same time. It worked for us. We were all happy with our meals, the service, the variety of drinks, the parking outside and the price were all satisfactory. I couldn't complain about anything. The staff where really obliging.

I entered GPK a vegetarian, and left wondering where meat has been all my life. I happily went along to GPK knowing that they will have options on the menue for herbivores.
My partner ordered steak as its not something I normally cook for him. It came out and smelled amazing and didnt look terrible, i dont know if it was the type of steak or the marinade but after having not eaten meat for 5 or so years I have never craved it so badly. I surprised everyone including myself and asked to try it - I even ordered one for myself! It was amazing and I cant wait to get back to try it again. The staff were really nice and it was great having a drink before dinner at the bar next door.

I really enjoy going to GPK Albany. The staff are charming and attentive without being over the top. The food is really great and the brand consistency really comes through. I enjoy sitting outside by one of the fires with a glass of wine. Great!
