I love the Garnet Road foodstore i think it has excellent coffee and food but the service is a bit RUDE if you ask me. I think if you pay the price you pay for the food and beverages that you should also recieve great service changes need to be made with this otherwise they could be losing customers fast.

I only go to Garnet Road Foodstore because it's the closest place to get a coffee and even then, five times out of ten, that's a let down.

The biggest problem with the Foodstore is the attitude of the staff/owners - very hard to get a smile; and if you're not a regular, you definitely won't get one. This place needs a lesson in being nice to customers.

Garnet Road Foodstore has consistently the best coffee of anywhere I frequent (Ponsonby, Jervois and City). The staff are always friendly and it's a great spot to go with friends, meet people there or (as I do when girlfriend is at the gym) go and have a couple of coffees, read the paper and have some excellent food.

The pre-prepared paninis etc are also excellent. Maybe it's a "local" place but that's why I like it; as well as for the excellent coffee obviously. Keep up the great work.

I don't know what the fuss it about. Having recently moved into the Westmere area, I was quite keen to try Garnet Road Foodstore because I had heard it was a bit of an institution in the area.

So, off we ventured last weekend with my flatmate in tow for a few coffees - the perfect start to a Saturday morning I would have thought.

Anyway, having ordered our coffees, my flatmate proceeded to hand over her loyalty card (indicating a freebie) with the wad of cash that you need to pay for a few coffees these days. The card was ignored, and the full amount was rung on the till.
We then asked to have the free coffee taken off the bill and the lady serving us muttered something under her breath about the inconvenience of it all. Needless to say, my flatmate and I looked at each other blankly.

We did end up getting our money back for that coffee, but to compound matters - the coffee was terrible - unless in dire need of an instant caffeine fix, we'll be avoiding the Garnet Road Foodstore from now on.

Weekend brunch on the pavement with some seating inside, although it feels a bit pokey in there. We've had poached eggs with tomato relish on the side (adding bacon makes this an expensive choice), toasted bagels with jam (good, nothing remarkable) - the sandwiches look excellent. The coffee was weak the last few times we went there, and the service is average at best. If you want uncomplicated food and service then it's okay, but Garnet Road Food Store could do with a lift considering they charge the price for it.
