Galbraith's Alehouse is a fantastic place to go for a variety of proper ales. Spent Sunday lunch there good food and a good deal for $20 but food took an awfully long time to arrive, nearly an hour,no warning about the wait. But gave my wife and i time to sample all the great beer they brew here themselves. Loved everyone our favourites are definetly the best bitter and Eb. The monks ale is So worth a try aswell but after dinner is best. We will be returning to Galbraith's Alehouse but maybe ask how long food will take.

The best Pub in the Southern hemisphere, as confirmed by the many overseas visitors I have taken here.
Food not always the greatest, but the beers are outstanding Keith Galbraith's dedication to quality is unparalleled.

Galbraith's Alehouse is a great English style pub that has that heritage building quality (it used to be the Grafton Library). The great thing is that they brew their own selection of beers of which I can recommend the Bohemian lager if you're into a pilsner. There's a small courtyard out the back with a fireplace which can be a nice spot to huddle with a cheeky pint on a Sunday afternoon in winter. Otherwise inside is pretty cosy with wood panelling and kauri tables and chairs. Also this pub's family friendly so you can take the kids for Sunday lunch too. If Galbraith's served their beer in a real pint glass I'd give them five stars...

Great pub, excellent food. Has english character and unusual beers to choose from which is great for a change from the norm!
