Went to this pub for my Birthday this year, and was shocked at how the staff treated us.We had a birthday cake sent before hand by my parents. When we got there and the waitress brought out the cake there was no smile or nothing from her truthfully it was like she was a dead fish. She basically threw the cake on the table with a loud thud and said "Happy Birthday!" in the most sarcastic way as if we were nothing. The staff were rude and UN -friendly to say the least.Hope they get better staff soon.Would not recommend to a freind anytime soon.
Visited this pub with friends on Saturday night. Very disappointed! No atmosphere at all. The staff seemed to think that our business was an inconvenience, seeing as there was only a handful of other patrons at the bar their lack of friendly service was extremely poor! Won't be going back!
Such great food and service! Haven't been in since the place was all done up but it looks amazing- they've really done the old building a justice. Welcomed by friendly staff when we arrived and looked after throughout lunch by a friendly english guy. It was a works lunch but ill definitely be back for dinner, especially after spotting the kids dine free sign outside the front.
Visited the Sunday of labour weekend.A few people sitting in the courtyard taking in the late afternoon sun.Enough menu choices to satisfy most palates. Between 2 we shared a garlic bread ,which arrived within 5 minutes of ordering.Very tasty with lots of garlic butter, nice and moist and the bread was toasted to perfection.5slices ample for 2.Dishes removed promptly.A short wait before the next course arrived.3 Star pie with fries and mushy peas ( from the light menu) arrived hot and full with lots of chunky tender meat and a light gravy. Next came the Kaitangata Pork Spareribs with potato's. 8 large ribs with nearly as much meat on them as you get with a chop, very meaty and once again very tasty.Glad there was a finger bowl. This in itself would feed 2 or maybe 2 and a child.Time for the dessert menu.Looked at it but decided we couldn't really do it justice.Next time bar snacks and the the Creme Brulee (who says it went out in the 90's didn't know what they were talking about). Will be back with a group to indulge in more goodies.Friendly & courteuos staff.
