In my humble opinion, the best way to spend any weekend involves good food. So while the weather is still shining in Auckland we made the most of our work free day with brunch at Foxtrot Parlour in Ponsonby Central. Despite starting early on a Saturday morning, Ponsonby Central was already busy with patrons visiting the fresh produce market and various eateries. We managed to get a seat inside Foxtrot Parlour and ordered items from their breakfast menu to start our day.The dishes that my friends and I ordered were not as good as we expected and we were rather disappointed. However, I came back about two hours later to devour their doughnut and that was delightful. I opted for the salted caramel filling which was luscious and rich. The cafe was busy during my two separate visits but the staff were very friendly and food and coffee came quickly. Although I may not come back to have brunch again, I would gladly visit again for their doughnuts. For more details of the food, please check out my post here

After walking around the Ponsonby Central markets we stopped into Foxtrot Parlour for coffee and possible one of the BEST donuts ever! I know this is a bold statement, but these babies were warm, fluffy and sugary delights! We didn't have time to even fill them, you get an option of chocolate or jam, it was inhaled within minutes of it hitting the plate!
We also indulged in the ginger crunch and a bacio almond cookie.
Such a lovely cafe, and the owner is super friendly helping you choose her culinary delights if you're stuck as well!
Take the time to pop in here, you won't be disappointed!

Visited Foxtrot Parlour two weekends back. Loved it so much that I visited again last weekend.

It sure is a busy place, but turnover is high so you usually don't have to wait long for a table. It wasn't really a place where you'd sit for hours on end, chit chatting.

Service was friendly and efficient. Staff there are passionate about what they do. They provide helpful advice and are not half-arsed about things like some other places are.

Food is tasty. So far, I've only sampled their pies and drinks. Plenty of food choices, even towards the end of the day where it is quieter. There's some really interesting stuff. E.g. the Beef and stilton pie, pork and apple. I've had the pork and apple pie, as well as the Thai chicken pie. Both were full of flavour, but I prefer the pork and apple personally. Lots of filling (not just starch) with the right consistency -- not too runny or thick. Pastry was alright -- probably not the best I've had but it is one of the better ones.

Drinks on the whole are pretty good. Their chocolate drinks don't taste like fake syrup -- a superb bonus. In fact, their chocolate 'smoothie' / iced chocolate was fantastic with a nice dark choc flavour to it with no cloying after taste.

Overall, a very satisfying lunch (after a not so satisfying brunch right before at another place on my first visit).

Only downside? The pie needed to be reheated more thoroughly on my first visit. It was only lukewarm in the middle. But it looks like they've managed to nail things down with the pie much hotter on my second visit.

Had my first experience of the new Ponsonby Central this morning when I went to Foxtrot Parlour for a quick lunch. Coffee was great, service was friendly, and the vege stack with eggplant, tomato, mushroom and haloumi was really delicious. We sat in a nice spot on the Richmond Rd side by the open doors, and enjoyed looking at the jams, preserves and nick nacks that make up the decor. Would definitely return next time I'm shopping in the area.

WOW! Foxtrot Parlour is fantastic and I can't even begin to explain just how good it was...but I'll give it a shot!
First up - staff. Friendly, welcoming, efficient - what more can you ask for!
Setting - located on the Richmond Road side of Ponsonby Central, the space is light and airy. We dined inside but there are also tables outside in the courtyard or undercover.
Food - now that's the real winner! I had the waffles but could easily have had pretty much anything on their menu...
Drink - great coffee which hit the spot, but two thumbs up for the ice cream soda (which I shared) - the Black Doris one takes some beating.
Foxtrot Parlour is my favourite new cafe in Auckland and I can't wait for more return visits this summer.
