Maybe those reviews earlier need to take stock of their life and stop causing themselves so much pain.
I have never dined in, but do use the take away option twice a month. I consider being able to get a seat by the beach, a tree for my umbrella and grass as my table, one of the true blessings in fine dinning
The snapper and chips wrapped in paper, with my squeeze Tom sauce and Pump water "x2" is a on going treat that myself and partner have enjoyed for the last 18mths. Total cost for this $24.00.
I know that the dinning staff are young, but hey every body needs to find a summer job and yes maybe they could be a little better in being attentive to in dinning customers. So get a meal to take out and enjoy the true pleasure of fine dinning with no air conditioning, you will find the meal a true pleasure as we do.
I have eaten here on a number of occasions in the past, both as take-away and dining in. The food is hit and miss, take-away is much better and far cheaper. Dining-in is awful, they shouldn't be allowed to run a restaurant. We sat down a few months ago and received two pieces of fish and generous amount of chips each, although way over-priced, they were good. I went back last weekend with friends and family visiting overseas, and was disgusted. We all received just one small piece of fish and a small handful of chips on the corner of the plate, no salad, no sauce, had to ask twice for cutlery to eat it. Then had to ask again or the drinks we ordered, which they got wrong, by the time they got our drinks right, the meal was over (not very hard with a piece of fish the size of a fish finger and 15 chips). All for a whopping $140. Total disgrace! Will never recommend tis restaurant ever again, customer service is non-existence, consistency of food quality is atrocious.
Lunch of fish & chips was $23 salad was extra $2.50. Almost finished my lunch when 4 people came in the waitress brought out the day's special om a blackboard.
The same fish & chips I was eating was $15.90 & the cheaper one was $14.50.
When I asked the waitress why she didn't show me the specials, she said she forgot.
When I went to pay she charged me $27 - I asked why she is charging me that when the menu says $23 & an extra $2.50 for salad.
She redid the charges for $25.50 for Fish, a dozen chips & a quarter cup of mixed salad mainly red cabbage.
I can not email them as they do not have an email address on Google, but I will be writing to Fair Go - and I will tell all my friends, work mates & colleagues never to go there again.
The shop was packed & I could have started a shouting match with the staff but out for respect for the diners and people waiting, I did not say anything and simply walked out in disgust.
Heads up entrepreneurs - get a new fish & chip shop started in Mission Bay please.
Had lunch there with an overseas visitor first week January 09. The service was bad, there was no ice available for my partners coke and I had to go and get some next door at another cafe! It was dreadfully overpriced and the food was mediocre to say the least, I was disgusted, our meagre lunch came to $77 and that included only 1 coke!
I will never go there again!
This is about the most appaulling customer service experience I had at the so called best restaurant for seafood in Auckland, The Fish Pot Cafe.
Yes I agree the food was good, but what about the whole dining experience, it was truly" APPAULLING".
Firstly I had a child going hungry without dinner because the waitress forgot to place the order for our fish and chips, and when she was reminded, she simply said sorry the kitchen is closed, being totally irrate at that answer, asked to speak to the Manager who was anything but apologetic about the whole situation, infact he was one off the most arrogant people I've ever dealt with.
Is good food all the you would look to get a a restaurant or is it the whole experience that makes your evening.
Well if you ask me I'll go anywhere but the fish pot cafe, and would strongly recommend the same to others as well.
Dined there today with guests as I frequently do. Fish portion was the smaller than normal. Chips were obviously reheated and not nice. Wine corkage was $9 (though the waitress did not touch it). This was a ridiculous charge for lunchtime in a fish & chip shop at midday. Will NEVER go back, nor will my friends.
very pleasant & peaceful atmosphere, great food & staff. staff are very patient & nonplussed.
The Fish Pot Cafe serves great fush n chups! I think half the people eating them at the Mission Bay parks are testiment to that!
