A group of us were looking forward to our visit to Eight Point Two and we were sadly disappointed.
Initially we annoyed the waitress by opting not to have bottled water and this set the tone for the evening. The service was painfully slow waiting over an hour for entrees, when we ordered it was an almost empty restaurant. One of the pork belly entrees was 95% fat and 5% meat, complete contrast to the other pork belly entrees. When this was raised with the waitress she said "oh I know" and took it away. No apology was offered then or later through the meal, another entree choice was required.
The mains were average, the lamb overcooked a shame given how scarce this meat will be soon, and the deserts the same.
Eight Point Two positions itself at the higher end with prices that reflect, we were really looking forward to this treat, unfortunately we left disappointed and feeling ripped off.

On previous visits to Eight Point Two I've been very impressed by the food but on this occasion it was some what off the mark. I had the lamb as a main which was fatty with well underdone sprouts and served on a stone cold plate. My partner had the steak which was equally as fatty although his squid and chorizo starter was delicious. The service was excellent, unobtrusive yet attentive and the ambiance great. Disappointing, as other visits have delivered a far superior meal.

I was disappointed - the venue and service at Eight Point Two were fantastic but my food was average. I went for the set menu of the figs starter which was good, then the lamb which was tough and fatty finishing with the quince dessert which were even tougher than the meat. Shame!

A special occasion called for a special venue - and that's exactly what we got last night at the very impressive Eight. Two Restaurant in Birkenhead Point on the North Shore.

I'd reserved a table and asked for an intimate area - and to my delight they seated us at a lovely candle lit spot around the corner from the main dining area of the restaurant.

Impreccable service throughout the night, and the diligent staff we had serving us were a breath of fresh air.

We were recommended the Brunton Road Chardonnay ($50 or so) and we're pleasantly suprised...off top a good start indeed.

My partner (whose birthday we were celebrating) opted for the 3 course Spanish-themed menu which featured a chorizo dish to start, a chicken, monk fish and prawn main and a cinnamon and raisin icecream with a shot of sherry.

He absolutely raved about his meal, and although the portion sizes weren't excessive, for $65 we both felt it was reasonably priced for good quality, interesting food.

My options were equally as appealing - a Goat's Cheese terrine to start, lamb shanks as main and a chocolate brulee to finish - all exceptional!

The menu is fairly limited, but there's enough interesting options and variety to cater for most palates - definitely the best restaurant either of us have been to on the Shore - we'll most definitely be back to Eight. Two sometime soon!

I was lucky enough to visit Eight. Two Restaurant on Tuesday night with classic hits.

The service here is excellent, when you enter you are greeted by a man that takes your coat and offers you a wine/beer.

You are seated and greeted with a scrumptous menu. At the moment they are doing a european food and wine tour so they change menu's - French/Italian etc.

The entree I had was simply divine, the best I've ever had.

The main again so beautiful and the dessert was a date pudding which was mouthwatering.

I want to go back, I will go back.

Highly reccommended for a romantic night out!

Eight. Two is our favourite restaurant. The food has always been superb and of a high standard. The waiting staff are fantastic, friendly and super efficient.

My new husband and I decided to have our wedding at Eight. Two as it is our favourite restaurant. Lyndsay and his staff really made our day. We have had loads of feedback from our 80 guests saying it was the best wedding they had been to or that the food was wonderful and the venue amazing. Really, I cannot say enough about the place. It should be a must for everyone who enjoys fine dining with a funky, young atmosphere.
