We had lunch at Dizengoff, and I thought it to be pretty expensive for what it was... I had the corn fritters, and they were OK. Not really worth $16...
The coffee was nice though.

Came here recently on a rainy Auckland day. As soon as we entered the ambiance was fantastic and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
The creamy mushrooms on toast were generous and well matched with a delicious latte.
We will definitely return to sample some of the awesome looking cabinet food!

I finally made it to Dizengoff! I kindly suggested to a group of 6 to have a midweek brunch there in honour of our friends' "aging".

With all the hype you get on places, your expectation are risen - Fair call?? I've walked pass on many occasion, and Dizengoff is consistently busy, and I have heard many great things about this infamous Ponsonby cafe, and have been meaning to test the coffee for myself!
... and what can I say .... the coffee IS GOOD! the food IS GOOD! The service IS GOOD!

Any feelings of "pretentiousness" is taken away with the smile and the pleasant demeanour of the staff here, and if you do not want to sit with rest of the crowd, there is a quaint area up stairs that only holds 5 old retro tables, and this is where we chose to hide and make fun of friend on her day of aging.

6 meals, 2x big Breakfast, 1 with Poached, the other preferred Fried, I'm having the Salmon Eggs Benny, others having Vegetarian Eggs Benny, Scrambled eggs on toast, and an interesting Chicken concoction sammy/bagel off the counter, a round of strange health juices, water and of course, the Coffee!...... and NO ONE uttered a bad word!! I can't believe it, 6 meals and no one unhappy! WOW - That's the first!! Everything just seems deliciously Fresh and Tasty!

Meals done, the company is becoming livelier (I guess we all needed our food!), so a good little gasbag is in session, before you knew it, a couple more rounds of coffee, and every single time, they were consistently good!

How can I fault this place?? I simply can't!

The pricing is on par with the rest of Ponsonby Road, but they do it so much more better and interesting here. The other Ponsonby cafes could learn a thing or two from these guys! Thanks Dizengoff, we shall be back to annoy you some more soon.

For one reason or another, I'd always felt Dizengoff Cafe was one of the more pretentious cafe's along Auckland's Ponsonby strip and hence the reluctance to go there often.
It appears my initial impressions are now so far off the mark. Dizengoff's staff are charming and downright jovial - fantastic!
What's more impressive about this Ponsonby institution is it's counter food - lovely fresh rolls, perfectly moreish macarons and perfect coffee - well done Dizengoff, you could teach other Ponsonby venues a thing or two!

Walking through Ponsonby I decided to stop in after seeing so many people sitting outside eating delicious looking breakfasts!
And it was worth it. I had a delicious breakfast of mushrooms, tomatoes, thick toast and poached eggs washed down with a latte!
Nice work Dizengoff - no wonder the place was full up at 9am on a Tuesday

Hadn't been to Dizengoff for about 6 months and am pleased to say it's still as good as ever.

I had nearly lost hope of finding a decent coffee - how hard can it be to make a good cup when you do it all day every day?

Anyway, Dizengoff once again came through with the goods, and even though it's not my local, I will make more of an effort to get there more often.
