The ViewAuckland Review
Vibe
Friendly and family-oriented on a Sunday afternoon, with a cool design ambience combining Kiwi rustic with an industrial spin. On Friday nights the music is mainly 80s hits, and in summer, the outdoor deck at Deep Creek Brewing Company flowing to views of Brown’s Bay beach will be the place to be.
Service
Smooth and laidback with excellent knowledge of Deep Creek’s craft beers, all carefully brewed on the premises.
What’s on tap?
Up to seven different brews from Deep Creek’s own tasty range, and a couple of guest beers from Hallertau and Tuatara. View Auckland favourites include the hoppy 309 NZ Pale Ale, and the robust Leprechaun’s Belle Irish Red Ale. Definitely order a tasting paddle ($22) of six different beers.
Feeling peckish?
Bring along a drinking buddy for seafood, meat and cheese platters ($17-29), or go solo with hearty dishes like BBQ ribs ($29.50) or Black Angus steak ($32.50). If you’re going to be supporting P Divvy’s Springbok team during Rugby World Cup, you’ll probably be keen on the Braai Vleis Mixed Grill ($37.50) or the Potjies Kos ($23).
The Bottom Line
A really worthwhile addition to Auckland’s microbrew scene with excellent beers in a variety of international styles.
A Reason To Return
Deep Creek Brewing Company’s Undercurrent Pilsener, not available when we first visited, so definitely worth another trip across the harbour bridge to Brown’s Bay.
