You wouldn’t have thought Auckland’s most notorious drinking area would have a call for an Irish bar. With million dollar yachts on the Viaduct’s doorstep and quite possible attracting Auckland’s most pretentious group of drinkers, some would say that the presence of an Irish Bar would somehow seem amiss? Not so according to both locals and tourists alike, and in Danny Doolans, Aucklanders are blessed with one of the best Irish Bars in the region.

Danny Doolans is traditional in the Irish bar sense: jovial staff, good craic and of course, all the best of the Irish on tap. It’s also Auckland’s only 7 nights a week live music venue and the ever popular “Danny’s Daily Dollars” does its fair share to drawn in the punters.

It’s just that kind of place. Quite literally, Danny Doolans has something for everyone – be it the casual pint over an informal business lunch or the focal point for the start or finish of a night of revelry.

And the bistro? Well worth checking out if good pub grub is your thing – the Murphy’s Stout Stew at a very reasonable $22.00 comes well recommended from this particular contributor.
