Was sick of the city and needed to get out so settled in for a sunday drive. 40 mins later we found our way into matakana en route to spend the day at omaha. Country kitchen cafe seemed like a good spot to stop for a bite to eat. We were a bit blown away at how friendly and welcoming the staff were. We ordered and had a look around the gallery next door which was great.
What resulted was the best serving of eggs benedict ive ever tasted with a side of bacon. All the other meals were well sized, well priced and really well made. Its a great little kiwi cafe that seems to do the little things exceptionally. Afterwards we had a look out the back at the resident farm animals while our food settled, then spent a great day at the beach.
Very happy we discovered a little gem of a place to stop off when up those ways, Im sure id be a daily customer if I was closer.
