Finally got around to dining at Restaurant Konditorei Carinthia on Halloween after hearing about this place from various people. Particularly as they have the pork hock dish -- something I miss from my travels to Bavaria a number of years ago.

We visited during the 'Oktoberfest' celebrations the restaurant was holding. The place was decked out to be like a beer hall with long tables. Not the most comfortable but I suppose an attempt to mimic the original beer halls.

Service was a bit hotchpotch. They could probably do with one more wait-staff. No major complaints -- you just have to be a bit patient.

Food did not really disappoint. The unfortunate thing was that one of the two pork hocks we'd ordered was very dry on one side (over-roasted?). It was otherwise cooked well. The schnitzels did not disappoint, that's for sure. Yum! We also had some of their 'pastries'. They were quite light so was a good finish to the otherwise heavy meal.

There's a reasonable selection of beers. I'm not much of a beer drinker so I got a radler (beer+lemonade) which was very refreshing.

Overall, the place is very simple and there's no fuss about it. I would come back for their wide selection of schnitzel that is on their normal menu (they had a simple menu for the 'Oktoberfest'). Will also try their other pastries.

Price-wise, it's not cheap but reasonable. Probably average to above average pricing. The portions are huge though. So if you are a small eater, you can always share the main and keep space to try their other offerings.

I love this place! It is my local and go regularly. The serving sizes are very generous and the service is excellent. and if you need something else .. the food is very tasty! perfect for hearty food on the night you don't feel like cooking.
