Had a fantastic dining experience last night (Thursday). The tasting menu / degustation is delightful and offers a wide variety of courses with a few surprise twists (e.g. Ostrich). While Clooney is rather expensive, the degustation is well worth every dollar spent. Wait staff are attentive and they enjoy talking you through the dishes, perfect for any first timers!
Clooney is a very special place. Dim lights, incredibly soft sofas, curtains that give privacy to the customers… If you want to spend a romantic evening with someone you love, Clooney is the place to go. Truly exquisite food, knowledgeable staff will make it the night to remember.
Clooney is the most sophisticated venue in Auckland and although there's a pricetag to match, the Clooney experience is worth every cent.
What excellent service. Booked in late (Friday) for an early sitting (Saturday), still tons of atmosphere, and they provided for my wife's dietary requirements (gestational diabetes) perfectly. Definitely, Clooney is absolutely recommended!
Had a 5 star experience at Clooney last night. Special occasions require special settings and after last night's dining experience it's hard to fault Clooney at all.
The service was fantastic, ambiance nice and buzzy and the food - delicious - throw in a few bottles of Churton "The Abyss" Pinot Noir and good company and you've got the makings of a great night out.
I can now understand why Clooney is consistently at the top of the pecking order when Auckland's best restaurants are decided upon!
Quite simply the best dining experience in Auckland. Great service, very cool interior, awesome atmosphere and the food was to die for. Most definitely recommended.
We recently spent my partners celebration of completing her masters degree with 1st class honours at this lovely restaurant. It reminded me of old Vegas or Hollywood days. I am from So. Cal so I know what I am talking about. The venue was nice and cool, I of course would have changed a couple of things but for Auckland I thought it was flash and the food was excellent. They were a bit slow out of with the mains but they brought us some lovely tasters to hold us over. The service was fab and the food was excellent, we all ordered something different and they were all cooked to perfection and lovely tastes. We hit the desserts as well and they were also lovely flavours and very worth it. All and all we had an awesome time. I would have given them a 5 of 5 but it was a bit cold inside and our food was a bit delayed but the service made up for it. Woudl love to go back. Is a bit pricey but the food was excellent and high quality!
Absolutely amazing! I have been here once and will be back here again soon! The portions look small at first but they are perfectly sized as you far from leave Clooneys with a rumbling tummy!
Great Service and would recommend as one of the perier Auckland Restaurants!
I was literally blown away by Clooney's.
Having visited the french Cafe and Meredith's in previous weeks I didn't hold too much hope out for Clooney's but it quickly put that right.
The atmosphere and furniture are excellent, the best I have seen in New Zealand, and the food was fantastic.
The service is bubbly and helpful, which turned in to a big tip on our departure.
I can not recommend this place enough, the menu is simple foods created in a tantilising dish.
It is not cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for.
Clooney, may I say was a lovely restaurant, lovely food, lovely ambience, lovely service, however the food was not in the fantastic category, the category where all you want to do is share a mouthful with your friends at the table and go "oh my god". Although perfectly cooked the conflicting flavors of too many sauces and flavours per plate simply left you trying to work out the taste of main ingredient? It has a menu that tries a little too hard and doesn't quite pull it off.
At night the restaurant Clooney can be, well, full on.
But the other day, when I needed a place for a midday meal with a few colleagues and thought it would be nice to get out of the Viaduct, I remembered that Clooney, though not in a neighborhood with many office workers, is open for lunch.
The restaurant was more than half empty, which made me worry that it wouldn’t be fully on its game. Wrong. We had an attentive waiter and a very fine meal.
If you’re a restaurant lover and you’ve got a schedule flexible enough to get out for lunch, it’s a meal very much worth using to visit restaurants precisely like Clooney.
At Clooney the lunch menu is the same as the dinner menu: no reduced prices, but no reduced selection, either.
Its a wonderfully balanced menu that seems to fit nicely with both lunch and evening. On this day I had the scallops, pan seared with a bean puree, a touch of something sweet and a superb piece of crispy proscuitto which did everything when combined. The main, duckling with an amazing white truffle & soy pomme puree they call it, I call it mash and incredible sweet & sour redcurrent jus with bok choy left me very satisfied and content.
Well done Clooney. It may well not be that busy over lunch compared to evenings, but it sure is refreshing.
Clooney only gets better. After been caught up in the hype of its November opening and leaving a little disapointed with the food on offer, I returned with a group of friends last week, and like my friends, I left completely reinvigorated with firstly the food, the space itself and the service.
Clooney really is the real deal and so far from the picture painted by some. We will be back, sooner than later.
This place is outstanding in both decor and in menu. The breakfast I experienced there was as if they had personally hand picked the best quality fruit available. Everything was fresh and delicious! I'm booking in for Friday dinner. As if the interior design was not total class, then food was great too! Look forward to tasting one of the divine and extremely creative items off Clooney's menu on Friday!
After giving Clooney a few months to settle, I made my booking with two other couples on a Tuesday evening. Clooney is a long overdue addition to our dining scene. The food was exceptional first and for most. Service was attentive. The mood and ambiance was quite stunning. The bathrooms are questionable, but the waitress assured me these were in the process of being changed.
I can see how Clooney could be overwhelming to some but by all accounts the place does not need those people as it seems to be very busy.
It's a long time since I left a restaurant and was still hungry. Really noisy because of the concrete walls. Didn't enjoy sitting at a round booth where two others had to move for me to be able to get out and stretch my legs. Service really slow.
Flavours in the food were great, but just not enough of it. Some of the entrees were bigger than the roulade I ordered for main. No reason to go back a 2nd time to this place once you've seen the outstanding decor and design of it.
Have only had the coffee at this beautiful and deliciously planned restaurant. The coffee was divine as was the fantastic barista, Zane. Will be going back for the dinner menu this Friday and I will let you know how that goes.
