The Clare Inn serves probably the best food for a pub in Auckland. Absolutely love it. After our first visit we've been back to Clare Inn 4 times and taken family and friends. Staff are friendly, good atmosphere and best of all is the food. Been trying a number of things off the menu, steak, pork belly, duck and they're all amazing! Highly recommend it.
Have been to the Clare Inn a few times and had Beef & Guiness Pie (twice) and Pork Belly
Pluses:– Maître d’ gives great service– Food is yummy comfort food- Can’t fault the Beef & Guiness Pie
Minuses:– This place should be busier
Interesting:– Bar is small and often cramped when going to pay
Verdict: – We will definitely go back again!!

Just by way of a small correction to the original review (important for an Irish man like myself) the Clare sponsor two local Gaelic Football teams - Harps and Celtic and a local Soccer team Bohemian Celtic. The participants of which make up for the Irish atmosphere in the bar all year round. The locals are refreshingly Irish (Warts and all!!) and are long term residents of Godzone (a rarity for an Irish pub). The place gets my thumbs up... and I could base that purely on the strength of their curry chips :)
The Clare Inn Bar and Bistro is a great example of an Irish pub. Lots of Irish staff and punters as well. The Clare Inn Bar and Bistro is warm and relaxed, has loads of room to accommodate all your mates.
Upstiars there's a great outdoor area; perfect for those summer nights. We managed to get 11 of us around a couple of tables and there was still plenty of room. If you're after a good Irish bar, then this is your place.
Clare Inn Bar and Bistro is a great local with friendly staff and good food. Great singer/songwriters night on Wednesdays from 7pm.
This is a great pub with excellent pub food!
Child friendly during the day, great for the pre- and post-rugby drinks over the weekends. It has a little of everything for everyone.
A friendly atmosphere even when it's creaking at the sides with the crowds going to Eden Park.
