I've been here four times with groups of friends, 10 or more and have tried so many tasty dishes - and always at the end when we split the costs it is so incredibly cheap - usually $20-25 dollars per person. My favourites are the prawn dishes. The setting is noisey and crowded, so if you are looking for a romantic or flashy venue this is not the place for you. If you are looking for some of the best Chinese food in Auckland to share with friends at a ridiculously reasonably price - Canton Cafe is the place to go! Recommend for it's awesome Chinese Food!
Now this restaurant is what it means to get the best value for your money!! The dishes are served in generous portions with very authentic style of asian cooking, and the price is great!! Our family and friends go there regularly, and the deep fried Hapuka dish is a must to have. The only downside is that because its quite a small restaurant, when its busy it can feel a little bit cramped. I wonder if they would ever expand to a bigger premise, as its popularity proves that most often we have to either wait a long time or book in advance to get a table. Almost a five star!!
Canton Cafe is a must-go-to. It is Chinese food at its best and after going twice, I will be a regular for life. You must always book (last night we saw at least four groups turned away) and although it is busy, it has a real authentic feel about it and the hustle bustle adds atmosphere to the restaurant. Brilliant staff who are very good at remembering your face and suggesting what to have for your first time there (menu a bit overwhelming with all the choices). I can't rate this place enough. Go and see Canton Cafe for yourself!
Excellent Cantonese cuisine.
As good as you'd get in China combined with all the excellent quality and freshness that NZ provides.
Always busy so book ahead and the staff are friendly. Most times busy and noisy and sometimes a squish, but that just makes it feel more genuine!
Canton is a great up-beat restaurant although can be on the noisy side at times. Excellent food. Service can be abrupt but is in keeping with the busy-ness of the place.
Canton Cafe is the best chinese restaurant I have ever been to!

The staff are nice!
But the food is fantastic!
When you walk in it does not look flash in fact it can be quite crammed and look a bit shabby. You may be sat in the old upstairs kitchen but just stick it out for the food.
You pretty much have to book even on the quietest night of the week. Enjoy!
