We have been long time loyal customers of Cafe Trends over the last few years. Being local to the area, there are many competitors so cafe choices are definitely challenging.

Meals are reasonably priced with good variety, service used to be very friendly and personal, and the cafe in general very pleasant to dine at. Also, the annual inclusion in Auckland's Entertainment book is a bonus. The breakfast meals are great and coffee is excellent - always served exactly as requested and portions are generous.

However, in the last few months we have only visited Cafe Trends a couple of times. Service has definitely gone downhill - as you order you feel like you are bothering the staff - taking up their valuable time that they could be using elsewhere. You could be standing in line to order for quite some time before someone even looks at you. The food is slow to arrive and drinks come after the meal is already started - even on a day when the cafe is only midly populated.

Also, the cafe is not child friendly. We asked for a high chair and got told a definite "no" while being smirked at. I doubt that there would be room to park a buggy in there anyway with people squeezing past tables that have not been cleared.

It's unfortunate that things have changed so much at Cafe Trends as we will not be returning there nor recommending it to anyone. It used to be one of our old favourites. A real shame due to such poor service, but gives us a great excuse to discover so many other great places out there around Auckland.

I have been to cafe Trends 2 times, the first time it was fantastic. The corn fritters were amazing and were the reason I wen't back there. Then the second time they were all out of corn fritters!!! The service was very prompt and the waitress very friendly.

I would discourage going to this cafe and want to sit down and have a meal there, we were told to leave the premises because the 'cafe is very busy and they need the tables'. We hadn't even finished our meal yet!

I think the friendly customer service that I used to experience from this cafe has gone down hill. It's a shame really considering there are other nice cafes around the area with much better service.

I'm a regular visitor to Cafe Trends and am always greeted with a welcoming smile - combine that friendliness with by far the best coffee in Ellerslie and you have a winning combination! Way to go guys, keep up the good work...

OK, but Cafe Trends is not that impressive - nicer cafes around the corner in Ellerslie Central :)
