Obnoxious Maitre d' & bland overpriced food are the order of the day at Cafe Kohi. Give it a wide swerve at all costs.
I arrived from Ireland in February and since then I have spent most Saturdays looking for a good fry up( it's my weekend treat) with no success until now.this is the closest thing to an Irish fry up that you are likely to get. Hash browns are home made and delicious, the bacon is proper bacon and not that streaky bacon muck ! Sausages are not bad and are best I've had in NZ yet.strange twist on the beans with a ragu type sauce but still nice.and for few bucks extra you even get a black pudding which isn't too bad. Only down side would be that it's a bit pricey at $24 but as it is such a good fry up I guess it's worth it
It was our Mum's birthday and I thought my brother had booked us a table, however there was a misunderstanding because they do not take bookings. Even though they were pretty busy, we came in with 9 of us for brunch, they were very accommodating and helped us by saving a few tables as people left so that they could join some together for us. We only had to wait 20 mins so we sat at the booth and drank a coffee.
The food was fantastic, and so was the service.
Me and my family, went to cafe on Kohi on Sunday for brunch, when we arrived it was full, there was a slight wait for a table maybe 10 minutes.
The waitress was very nice and showed us to our table, putting water down straight away and giving us our menus.
We ordered coffee it arrived quickly and was very good. We also got a beetroot juice which was also great.
So we ordered food, 1 chefs special (pork chop), a baked mozzarella with eggs and a tomato sauce, and a pancakes for the little one. All the food was excellent as was the service, this was the first visit for a few years and we will make the trip over the bridge more often now !
I was here a couple of days ago and had a wonderful breakfast! My friend had the eggs benedict, while I had the corn fritters. Everything was delightful. Coffee was great as well! Plus, there were this two servers (I don´t remember their names?- one from Aussi I think, the other from Argentina) who were oustanding. Thanx for making a great start for our busy day! :) Looking forward to come back soon.
I recently met a friend for lunch at this cafe and we were disturbed to find an item on the menu called something or other "faggots". Surely management could think of another term to name long pieces of food other than this derogatory and offensive slur? Unfortunately the complete absence of service meant we were unable to speak to a staff member, and left to spend our money elsewhere.
I with four friends dined for lunch yesterday and was most disappointed. Firstly the tasting platter(approx $19.00) was of minute portions and was pathetic. Coffee was luke warm which I left and mentioned to staff but this was not acknowledged . I will not return - there are too many places "doing it well"
