we had two of the following dishes and were not to our expectation.
1. Jordan Hummus topped with spit roasted lamb, tahini sauce, flatleaf parsley and toasted almonds, served with hot Turkish bread
2. Iskender Kebab famous in Turkey – spit roasted lamb over chunks of pide bread in a tomato and thyme sauce, topped with natural yoghurt & parsley
For the food we had to pay before we consume so there is no guarantee of good service or reasonability good food. the chicken and the lamb meals were looked like it had been recycled at least 3or 4 times. three are lot better choices in Auckland if you want to have a good meal!

Cafe Casablanca in Sylvia Park is one of the very few eateries in Sylvia Park that serves up decent food.

The price of food is standard and tending towards the more expensive end of the scale. I think they can be a bit stingy with some meals as you get quite a small portion for the price you pay.

I would recommend their lamb (shank) tagine which is my go-to dish when I'm at Casablanca. It's probably worth getting 2 shanks instead of just the one as you get quite small shanks and one shank might not be enough.

Their churros and pide (bread) are pretty good.

If you find yourself in Sylvia Park and after something decent to eat, then I'd recommend Casablanca as an option. The food served is not fantastic but they have one or two things which are pretty good.

Atmosphere: Comfortable. Can get quite noisy inside.

Beverage: They are licensed and have a variety of beverage options, alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

A great place to meet up with friends for a quick bite before the movies.
Food is reasonable quality, not too expensive. The only negative comment I have is that sometimes the food can take a while to come out. Then you have to rush so as not to miss the beginning of the movie. Make sure you give yourself enough time.

over priced for quantity and quality of food. my dish was semi cold and warm…think they may have reheated in the microwave??and not heated thru enough??also very salty..salads on the dish was not fresh either. Would not return and also do not recommend to others. Atmospher was ok. Service was poor. and…the girl who was taking order at the bar hit on my husband!! Shocking!!

Our food was nice enough although I had to ask for the bread that was suppose to accompany my dish. It was a friends birthday so we were out having lunch to celebrate, one of her gifts was a chalk window marker so one of my table mates wrote on the window behind us that it was her birthday, perhaps not the smartest thing to do but never the less she did it. At the end of our meal we were just chatting and a sour grumpy waitress (as we left she was taking the orders behind the counter) came up and took some of our plates and then asked us if we had written the birthday message on the window, to which we said yes and I said that It rubs off and I then rubbed it off in front of her she then snapped that at us that it was a 'stupid' thing to do. This was her mistake as next weeek we were suppose to be coming back which I told her on our way out and that due to her remark we have changed our minds. She then yelled out to me something which I did not hear properly but it was quite obviously derogatory. Casablanca needs to hire staff that have better people skills because I have never been treated so rudely by a waitress before. Dont you realise that people talk and so far I have told at least ten people not to waste their money at Casablanca!!!! - Report

Everytime I go to Cafe Casablanca I enjoy my meal; the hummus, dolmas, the fresh flavours and interesting choices. The arrangment is initially quite strange, you are seated with menu's then you decide what you want and have to get up and order at the counter and pay!!! As a waitress I am surprised at why the staff are incapable of taking a table order but maybe this is to avoid people leaving without getting the bill. The Belly dancer...was not really my cup of tea so I just avoid that night but I love the decor and the cushioned seating. Obviously every restaurant has their different styles of service and Casablanca's isn't the norm but the food is worth getting up for. It has a very authentic flare and I will always enjoy going out to enjoy one of their Mezza platters, which is a cheap meal perfect to share. So many vegetarian options as well which is great if you have vego friends to take out . I urge you to take a trip to Sylvia park and try it for yourself
