Love, love, love this cafe. A firm favourite with the entire family. Am recently loving the new additions to the menu like their Creamy blue cheese mushrooms, bacon, poached eggs and baby spinach on sour dough, whilst still being able to indulge in my old favourites, like the poached eggs on grilled pesto bread with rocket and baby tomatoes YUM! (and by the way their gluten free bread is the best in Auckland by far). A friend pointed out to me that you can actually view some of their yummy menu options on their facebook page, just need to search for 'Cafe Bella-Monte'. One last little tip, all of their 'sweets' are baked by them on sight, and are delicious! My favourite.. the passion fruit melting moments and its toffee milk bar slice for the kids. It's a must visit cafe.
Bella Monte cafe has become our absolute favourite. The range of food is extensive and everything is fresh and delicious and the coffee superb. My kids thoroughly enjoy playing both inside and out and we enjoy the peace we get while they are entertained! I am very surprised at the comments below regarding child safety. I have always found the staff at Bella Monte to be professional, super friendly and very accommodating. Perhaps that particular reviewer was too busy eating one of the wonderful muffins to keep an eye on their children!
It is so hard to find a decent cafe in Auckland that is also child-friendly and Bella Monte ticks all the boxes. The food is fantastic, coffee is great and there's a really cool selection of gifts. But best of all the kids love it. Toys both inside and out and child-proof gates keep them safe in the front courtyard. I have been there many times and the food, service and atmosphere are always of a consistently high standard. Don't let the unreasonable review below put you off - they are too busy running a great cafe to run a babysitting service. You still actually have to look after your kids but this cafe makes it as easy as possible while still enjoying a great meal.
Great food, great service .... But be aware .... Bella Monte appears to be child safe and it is not. The side path leads to a car park and the front child safety gate is often pinned open while you are not looking, meaning kids can run out onto the busy road. Management's attitude when I mentioned trying to keep the gate closed was terrible. They said 'your kids, your responsibility', they didn't seem to understand that by appearing child friendly parents may let their guard down for a few seconds. I won't return because of this attitude, which is disappointing as I really liked everything else about the place!
My fav of the kiddie friendly places in auckland! Lovely staff, gorgeous food (the French toast was to die for), so relaxing and with a really cool vibe. Almost hate to review Cafe Bella Monte in case the well earned attention means it gets too busy! Only suggestions is more of a proper step to the play area (seen a couple of hairy moments with the wee tots) and a play corner inside- so we mums could come in wet weather too! :)
I came to this cafe recently and was very impressed with the well thought out ideas creatively and practically. I have recommended you to friends in the area with children, who are going to come and check it out as they have little ones and as you have a play area for children and the play area is gated the parents can relax a little. Food and coffee at Cafe Bella Monte was exceptional. Nice one :)

Great little cafe that catches sun in the courtyard while you can watch kids play in the little house and garden (great since the turf has been laid for winter).
You can trust that whatever you order will be right-on. Yum. I would still go to Cafe Bella-Monte if I was childless - it's vibrant, spacious enough and unpretentious.
Also - a plus for their very clean bathroom which is sadly uncommon these days.
