So disappointing! This place is litterally A SHAME!As a group of friends from South America we have been testing several food from Argentina and I can tell you that Buenos Aires Restaurant is one is the worst ever! Very expensive for "a parilla de barrio" with very low quality meats. We were seating next to the toilets a very dirty place, in front of the kitchen with the worst view ever. The empanadas are very expensive and they are fried!! Oily empanadas are not the typical very good Argentine empanada. This place is dirty!! Please have a look at the toilets and at the window at the end of the restaurant...It hasn't been cleaned for ages! The waiters and waitresses are a disaster. They think they are i dont know what!!!!! they are cheesy and rudein resume, average food, expensive and the waiters lack basic manners. Will never go back.....even McDonalds would do better than this.

Very sad to see that you had a bad experience but let me tell you something:
First of all Buenos Aires restaurant is not a "parrilla de barrio" because our parrilla is in Auckland City so if you know the meaning in Spanish of parrilla de barrio you should know that Auckland is not a barrio. Regarding to the quality of our meat "The All Black " and many many people don't think like you. Secondly if you were not happy with the view in our little place with a wall and plants separating the room from the kitchen, I'm sorry that is what we got. Empanadas expensive, try to make one and then tell me, our menu specify the empanadas are fried so if you don't like it, don't ask for them, and they are not oily at all (if you has been in Argentina you should know as well that in most of the provinces up north is traditional to make fried empanadas). Definitely you have been very rude to talk that way regarding our staff, look like you had a bad day even before go to the restaurant. If you reckon that Mc Donald would do better, good luck! - Report

There are nicer places to eat in the city at the same price to this. Overall, it's a lovely venue - with hugely disappointing food and service We went here for a New Years Eve celebration with friends from out of town. We placed our drinks order and food order after 5 minutes or so. We received the food after 10min but still no drinks? Waited for another 5min then called over the waitress, then finally our drinks emerged. Dad and I both had steak, one Med one med rare, both over cooked and unseasoned, we complained and a guy told us that the Argentinean way, he offer to change but that would mean another wait. I respect is an Argentinean Restaurant but is located in New Zealand, so the temperature of the meat should be according New Zealand standards. The salad sides are very plain and lack of imagination but we cant complain since they are free. Mum got a Main salad with dressing on the side, apparently came with vinegar. Mum asked the waitress for Balsamic dressing and she came back with more vinegar by this stage we just gave up! Will not be going back I also feel that the management is not open to criticism given some of the responses to previous posts and they would rather rest on the laurels of previous accolades. This is fine; we shall simply take our custom elsewhere

We dined here today. The lighting and music created a great atmosphere. Unfortunately that was the extent of the pleasantries. Our drink orders were taken about ten minutes after we were seated and there was only one drinks menu on our table. We had to go to the bar and ask for water to be brought over for everyone. The waitress was not very friendly and spoke to us as little as possible. One of our friends had to wait ten minutes longer than the rest of us for her sides and when she asked about it they said will be a minute, but nobody apologized for the ten minutes she was already waiting. All in all, the only good thing about this restaurant is its location and we will not be returning.

OMG! This place is fantastic! I took my boyfriend here as a surprise for his bday and the special touches all the staff took in regards to the Bday Boy made his evening! We were treated to a wine tasting by one of the best and articulate Wine Connoisseurs I have ever met (and I have been to MANY wine tastings). The food was delicious and I highly recommend the wood-fired steak - IMPRESSIVE!! And we will be back for a group booking!

I went there last Saturday. What a great place!! Finally a place where you can get a big meal for just a few $$. I couldn't finish my dessert.
Wine was superb and the couple dancing tango where amazing.
Definitely coming back.

Sorry guys, I've been there and it wasn't so good. The meat was great but I was waiting hours for that, it was a mess and my friends got their food so fried. I hope they could fix their problem at the kitchen, I believe they have to change or hire someone with more experience on that. I was waiting something more professional, it looks that they didn't have enough money to start it.

Hi, I am Laura, from Argentina, I have to tell you that I completly disagree with your review. Auckland is lucky and more cosmopolitan now thanks to people like Buenos Aires restaurant. Giving aucklanders the oportunity to savour Argentina at their own city.

I go out once or twice per week to dine and Buenos Aires restaurant is on my top 3 favourite places now. - Report

Hi Donna, thank you so much for your support. It is very sad for us too leave behind all the wonderful people that we've met in these three years at Clarks Beach, but we decided it's time to move further and do what we do best and it is ASADO our traditional Argentine BBQ steaks cooked with fire and coal.
We hope to see you one day at 234 Jervois Rd, Herne Bay.
Warm regards Hawaiian pizza girl from Victor and Maria. We will miss you too. - Report

We were very dissapointed with the food that was served. The meat was rubbery and chewy and the flavours clashed. We had to wait a long time for the meals to arrive. We basically left half way through the meal, very annoyed and dissapointed. It was a waste of $100 dollars excluding the petrol costs.
