Bouchon Creperie & Wine Cafe

My husband and I are regular customers at Bouchon and we LOVE the place!!! The ambiance of the cafe is traditional and attractive and there is a feeling of being in Paris especially when you get to sit in the front of the restaurant, by the window. Waiting staff are are attentive but not in your face.Menu is limited and we don't see this as an issue as the mains on offer are totally delicious. We have tried nearly all of them and still go back for more. As for the dessert crepes, they taste light and provide the perfect end to a sumptious meal.Also appreciate the B.Y.O factor and "NO CORKAGE CHARGE" which is almost unheard of these days.Thanks Bouchon. I agree with the previous reviewer - Bouchon has lost it's charm. I've always thought the food was average anyway, but i recently went for brunch and was a bit overwhelmed by the pushy manager and there seemed to be more staff than customers, which is not great for such a small place.

I've just read the previous reviews and I see it's pretty old (2007). Someone needed to update this. Let me tell you that the old Bouchon like you knew it is dead! Under new managment (obviously bad managment), the whole athmosphere that made Bouchon so special before is definitely gone! Food is below average, prices as still pretty high (which wasn't a problem when it was worth it), staff is tired and not motivated... Sorry to say that, but you'd only be disappointed to go there. Especially because the creator of Bouchon opened "Torchon" at Elliot Stables in Elliot street and this creperie is amazing! Let's hope he won't sell it to some amateur anytime soon!!

We visited Bouchon Creperie with friends on Friday night, made a booking for 8:30 - good job we did - it was busy and there were lots of people waiting for a table. It has a very quaint atmosphere with seating and decor quite basic - but not uncomfortable.

Service is not fast, but it is friendly, but the food is worth waiting for.

The wine list is not extensive but is interesting. We went for a Bourgogne (Burgundy) Pinot Noir at $49 - advertised as 2003, but served the 2004.

For entrees we tried the Bread and dips - small (a generous small portion indeed) both "escargot" dishes and shared it amongst the 4 of us. I went for the traditional slow cooked bean based Cassoulet dish which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was full of tasty morsels of Pork Belly, Duck and Toulouse sausage - no need for a side of vegetables with this dish.

My wife and friend went for the Boeuf Bourguignonne with béarnaise sauce, our friends’ wife tried the Mushroom Crepe - which they tell me were cooked to perfection.

We all had dessert; two Crepe Susettes served flambé and two Crème Brullees, again all absolutely delicious. This was followed with some superb coffee.

The waiter was a young French lad - obviously new to his trade. He was pleasant, friendly and did his best, but he really needs some training in basic waiting principles. He did not know how to pour wine, didn't keep an eye on us as we found it difficult to get attention for the ordering of a second bottle of that lovely Pinot and some more water for the table.

However, we all had a fabulous time and plan to make some return trips to work our way through Bouchon's fabulous French menu.

I went this evening actually. I had a flat-white which was just awesome - creamy and strong:) ... absolutely great!


I ordered French style onion soup and the berry and fruit creperie $12. It was pretty average, but they give you a lot though. The menu was pretty average and dinner was around $20-30 really good price. I adore the entrees in this restaurant to be honest!!


The service was friendly, but the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant
so it was extremely hot - and toilet was unisex.

If you have an addiction to crepes with lemon and sugar ('deux supplements de citron s'il vous plait') Bouchon Creperie & Wine Bar is the place to come. Again and again and again...

Lunch was pretty good too. Followed by crepes, naturellement.
