Visited Bolliwood last Tuesday for the $10 Mains, turned out to be an absolute bargain. The service was good, they were attentive, but sometimes we did have to try and get their attention for water etc.
The food came out fast and hot, and considering how busy they were that was impressive, and I can comfortably say it was the best curry i've had in a long time.
There was +'s and -'s, but overall I was very happy with the Bolliwood experience, and for $10main really who can complain with anything...
We went to BOLLIWOOD last Friday,Great food, Great Place & Lovely People! I have experienced the best meals my taste buds have ever had the pleasure in tasting! well
recomending.Excellent you guys are rock!!!!
Awfull service, we went there on Friday the 13th of June, << yes I know the date.. we got there and ordered our starters which actually came out in about 10 minutes which was good, we ordered our mains when we ordered our starters, well.... it took just over 1 hour and 30 minutes for our mains to come out, nothing was said to us, the drinks on our table, water glasses etc that we had been trying to fill our empty stomachs with were cluttered all over the table and not one was removed even through our dining experience, when the mains arrived the rice was completely cold, then we had to wait a further 15 minutes before they brought out more rice which had HUMAN HAIR IN IT!!, will NEVER return to this place and WOULD NOT ADVISE IT. Worst dining experience ever my wife and I are disgusted
The food is fantastic - definately the best in the area! The service has always been fantastic. Tarun always goes out of his way to fit us in regardless of how busy they are! If you are a fan of Indian food like us you will not be dissapointed. Thanks Bolliwood...!!!
After reading all the reviews, I thought of trying the place , as I'm a bit adventurous.
What I found there was totally opposite of what is written here. After a warm welcome by the waiter standing at the main door, the order was only taken when we pressed the order button at the table top.
We ordered tandoori platter as my girlfriend wanted to try it...and man it was really delicious, sizzling stuff.
What I like most in that platter was the freshness of meat and european taste.
After enjoying a couple of drinks we ordered our main again by pressing that order button.
But in between our entrees, a waiter visited our table to check whether we are fine with the food or not..
Of the mains I ordered one tandoori snapper and one kadhaayi chicken, snapper was also served in same type of platter (the sizzling one).
Kadhai chicken was really indian, as I dont like the sweatness of butter chicken and I am a fan of that spicy indian taste.
All in all I can say, it was more than worth the price...will definitely go again
Bolliwood is still as popular as ever -especially with those from outside of Auckland. We took some out of town guests (at their request) to Bolliwood on Saturday night. Like many Indian eateries, the focus for wait staff seems to be to push the starters and condiments and get the food out asap, so they can do another sitting. This was definitely the case here. We had our meals served within half an hour of ordering!! Good if you're in a hurry , but a bit rude for a table of eight wanting to catch up. The food was good, but the mains didn't have much meat compared to the amount of sauce. I wouldn't bother to return to Bolliwood in a hurry.
Visiting Bolliwood on a Sunday evening, we found it rather disappointing. The service, although friendly, was slow; the music was far too loud, especially since there were only a handful of diners.
The food was average - in particular dry onion bhaji and a very oily tikka masala. As there are many other Indian restaurants to choose from, Bolliwood probably won't be on the repeat list!!
Have had a look over other peoples comments and have to say I disagree with a few of them. I actually think Bolliwood is reasonable. I've been a few times now and the food is good and the staff efficient and friendly. Ok, Bolliwood isn't the best in town, but still worth a try.
