I was in Auckland few months ago and went out for Tapas and Sangria at this place.... Being a Chef myself loved the atmosphere and the location which took me back to a traditional Spanish setting... Menu combination is fantastic and well balanced.. Taste, Texture and the presentation of food is Michelin star quality... I would go here again and the best Spanish dinning experience I had in my Auckland 2013 trip.....
It is unfortunate that I have to rate this restaurant poorly having been to Bolero's before and had a great meal and good service. That was about 2 years ago. This particular time it was appalling.
I ordered a chicken salad and the chicken breast was raw. Seared only. It would have been fine if it was steak but chicken...!! A sure way to get food poisoning.
After I brought this to their attention they offered to replace my meal. I then had to wait 20 minutes for a replacement. I felt that wasn't good enough given that my dining companion was half way though their meal when I brought the problem to their attention and then they had to wait until I had finished my replacement meal. Not nice.
When I came to pay the bill I was then told they would give me 10% off my meal.. I felt that was not good enough and asked for 50% and got it. My reason... my whole dining experience was sullied by a raw chicken salad and a long wait for a replacement. I really shouldn't have had to pay at all. I was concerned that I would have food poisoning as well..
If you have a chicken meal at Bolaro's I recommend that you check that the chicken is cooked before eating any.
Great place to pop into for some tapas before a movie. Eating outside is also great for people watching and everything here is very well cooked and finger licking good!
They have friendly staff, and their tappas, salads and steaks are to die for.
Dropped in after the movies last night, Bolero, perfect, staff, perfect, friendly, chatty, professional, atmosphere, warm, not too loud not too quiet, wine, great. Well done.
Dropped into Bolero for brunch Sunday, must say it was very pleasant. Sun was shining, staff friendly, Westfield Albany wasn't that busy overall, had eggs benedict, when is someone going to realise that adding spinach makes it eggs florentine and bacon + tomato makes it eggs blackstone - NOT ALL LUMPED TOGETHER ON THE ONE PLATE, GRRRRRRRR!!!Anyway, calm now, nice coffee, had 2, must mention Massimo across the courtyard, they had a lovely woman playing piano accordion which I could hear perfectly, nice touch.
Dropped into Bolero after watching Thor at the Albany Event cinema. Three pieces of advice for you - firstly the best thing to accompany your tapas is a bottle of the Rioja, secondly don't watch Thor, and thirdly don't watch Thor. (The second point was so valid I said it was worth repeating!)
Headed to Bolero on the outside of the Albany Mall with friends last night and had a really great time - the tapas was authentic and tasty whilst my wife's pasta dish was top notch. Definitely recommended.
