One of our favorite eating places. Great to watch sporting events. The menu has something for everyone esp their stone grills.
Staff are friendly and helpful with nothing being to much trouble.
They also are part of ( the trust card ) which rewards your loyalty this can be used at any of the Trust Restaurants in West Auckland. You can get your card at the bar. Would recommend you book in advance to ensure a table esp when a sport event is on.

We had a bad experience at the Black Salt Bar & Eatery in the past and vowed never to go back.
A friend recommended we go back and give it another go, but wouldn’t say why.
Curiosity got the better of me and my partner and we booked a table on Saturday, of which we were informed that live music was on at 8pm. Nice to be warned before we entered the place. So we booked for 7 that way if the were bad, hopefully we would be finished and could get outr quick
When we arrived at Black Salt it was like the place had completely change, and it had. All new staff that, were pleasant and smiling. And the whole place had a different vibe. The music was so much better; it wasn’t jumping from one style to the next and the volume was set at a good level.
I was considerably quieter than when we were there last and that is probably because of how bad it was.
We were pleased to see you could actually read the menu and that made us think, new manager? new Chef? Or possible both?. The meals were sooo much better and you could tell that the chef took pride in his/her job.
Then the music started and the 2 guys the had on were fantastic.
Anything I thought of the place before has changed and I don’t normally write these things, But it you had a bad experience with this place before, I suggest you give it another chance as i’m sure they must have fired everyone and started again. Well done BlackSalt! My partner and I will be back and we will be bringing our friends.

Worst restaurant in Auckland! Why is Black Salt Bar and Eatery in New Lynn the worst restaurant in Auckland?Reservations – It took us 3 attempts to eat here. The first time they booked on the wrong day and said we would have to wait ‘a long time’ before they could accommodate us. The second time they had just seated a large table and it was going to be about 1 1/2 hrs to serve us. The third time they had us booked for the wrong day again, but this time the restaurant was so empty it wasn’t a problem.Noise – the music was so loud we couldn’t hold a conversation or hear the waitress recite the menu specials. When we asked the waitress to move us further away from the singer it was a ‘difficult’ request, despite the restaurant being empty – they had positioned the truly awful singer in the restaurant area right next to the patrons! When the singer thankfully stopped they cranked up the sound system to an equally inappropriate volume.Food – I left the restaurant hungry. My steak was served on a hot stone accompanied by some very small side panels for the rest of the meal. The menu is very limited and most the meals you have to cook at the table using the ridiculous hot stone concept they have – if I wanted to cook my own food I could stay at home.Staff – everything was a hassle for the staff. I asked for my steak to be cooked rare after struggling with raw meat on a hot stone but I was told they couldn’t do it despite having a kitchen and a bored chef within my vision. When the 12 year old manager asked me if I enjoyed my meal at the end I made the mistake of answering politely but truthfully and she ended up arguing with me and I had to insist on just being able to pay my bill and leave.Do not eat here, it is absolutely awful. If you are thinking of setting up a restaurant in New Lynn keep an eye on Black Salt Bar and Eatery as I doubt they will be in business for long, you’ll get a good building at a cheap price and there’s no decent competition in the area.

What a great addition to the New Lynn area, finally a place of quality equal to the viaduct. The atmosphere at Black Salt is great, very smart interior with a great outdoor setting, the staff are friendly and very professional. The new stone grill dining is fantastic, I had the 400gm steak with side dishes - was very filling. We had a dinner party of around 18 people last Friday, most first time there - they loved the meal and could not fault anything.I know longer go to town, finally a local bar worthy of been called a local !!!
