I have to say that we had a fabulous meal at Bikanervala. Six of us. Three of us had Thalis/platters. Three different ones. More than enough food for one person and they ranged in price from $14-$16 and included a sweet. My daughter had Shahi Paneer and Nan, which cost around $10 in total and my son had a Pizza (he refused to eat Indian and they have Pizzas and Chinese food). I suspect an adult wouldn’t find one bowl of Shahi Paneer and Nan bread enough to eat. But at $10 what do you expect. The food was DELICIOUS. Bikanervala is self-service and the meals don’t all come together. The man on the till could do with some customer service training, but other staff were good. There is a fabulous sweets counter and we took a box of sweets away. The young woman on the sweets counter gave my kids tasters, which was good customer service. This is a chain restaurant from India (which has a few overseas branches) so the food really is what people eat in India. It is a nicer looking restaurant than the Dosa Plaza in Mt Roskill, but still a bit of a fast-food joint.

I came into this restaurant to purchase some packaged Indian snack food, after waiting at the counter to be served for about 5 minutes, i asked the man behind the till that i needed to be served, he could not help me, he gestured to another staff member to serve me but he did not, I walked out of the shop without my snack and will not return. The service is hopeless.

I really enjoyed Bikanervala - but it does make a difference if you go with an experienced Vegan to help with the choices!!
And after a huge meal - they have the most colorful & tasty array of sweets to take home with you!!

Great food, all sorts of indian sweets and variety of vegetarian food. Lovely place to dine at
