It's European styling with mirrors aligning the dark walls, chandeliers, a communal high table and a cosy alcove offer a stylish cafe alternative along Fort Street.

Although this particular visit coincided with the end of the lunchtime rush, staff we're very friendly and coffee and meals were delivered without any real wait at all.


Drinks List

Superb coffee is the name of the game at Ben. The micro roaster Barista Empire is responsible for some extremely good blends - the Ethiopian flat white a particularly wise choice on this visit.


Highlights

The counter food options are very limited, but the chorizo and potato salad with capers was mediocre - unfortunately lacking in any real kick.


The Bottom Line

Life's to short to drink bad coffee ... or so the saying goes. You'll be hard-pressed to find better coffee options in the Fort Street area and surrounds, however don't expect to be wowed with food options on offer.

If you've ever admired the art of making good coffee, Ben Cafe is a great place to sit back and experience these master technicians at work.
