Food at Basalt is nice and well presented but stingy portion sizes.

Great experience for a party of 8. Warm and welcoming environment. Service at Basalt was quick and helpful.Changes made to our orders were graciously received. Food servings were generous, and beautifully presented. Almost a universal chorus of “Wow” as dishes were placed before us.The food itself was excellent We’ll go back to Basalt soon. retrorev 22/7/11

The first time we went there we found the food was less than average and service was pathetic.

The second time we ordered other items from the menu and found the food tasteless and over salted. The waiters were quibbling amongst themselves and the whole fiasco annoying.

If you want a drink in a place without ambiance then you have found the right place. With regards to their food, go to McDonald's instead!

Basalt is one of the best local bars I have ever been to. The menu is outstanding, always delicious and a great range of wine and beers to choose from. The staff at Basalt are friendly and know their stuff. I recommend to everyone I know!

Great family restuarant. Menu is good and there is always something for everyone. It is a small but relaxed place with a nice open fireplace for those cold winter days, and for the summer it has a small outside area.

Nice smallish restaurant with a great range of food including a stone grill menu. Tables outside mean you can enjoy a relaxed sidewalk or sit inside and enjoy a fire in winter. Meals lack enough vegetables and chips for me, but the desserts at Basalt are always yummy.
