Went to have a nice Sunday brunch with my partner and his mother. The whole experience at Barefoot in the Bay was a major let down. The coffee order was messed up. We then waited more than 50 minutes with still no sign of our breakfast to be served. We made 2 enquiries with regards to when the breakfast would be served, during the wait and we received no information or apology from the waiter and cafe staff. As of the poor (non existent) service we thought we deserve a refund. Will never return to Barefoot in the Bay! They don't seem to care to communicate to their customers. The manager was utterly very rude and seems to not knowing- how to go about do his job properly. I agree with all these other reviews written here, appalling manners, let down by service, poor food. full stop.
This was the worst cafe I have ever been to! We ordered two paninis and a coffee. The staff seems uninterested and made us feel unwelcomed – not exactly what you would expect from hospitality staff. The paninis were a minimal effort.. two thin bits of meat placed at the very front of the bread- little sauce, lacked taste… my 9 months old would make a better one. AND they were pricey. Embarrassing... Won’t be returning or recommending this place any time soon. I left feeling this cafe like I had wasted my money.
I would rate Barefoot in the Bay a score of zero if only 'View Auckland' allowed its users to rate lower than one star! My family and I have been to this cafe several times whilst visiting the local library only to be appalled at the state of the cabinet and the blatant lack of service on the part of the staff (who seems far less the enthusiastic). Considering that it was not very busy, you would at least expect the tables to be clean – they weren’t. When our coffee finally arrived, the waitress asked us, “Is that it?”, before storming back inside. Overall Im very appalled and find the low standard to be very disappointing, considering the fantastic close knit location.
