I must say their service is very nice (and there were no communication problems like you may have them in other places) and quick (as long as there aren't too many other guests waiting).
The decor is alright, but I don't care too much about that anyway as long as it is clean, which is the case.

The food is absolutely awesome, my partner and I shared a fried snapper and that was enough for both of us, the rice is only 2 dollars per person (all you can eat) and they serve you water without asking. So we spent under 30 dollars for 2 people, and for food that tasty that is pretty much unbeatable.

We went back another day and had a snapper that wasn't fried, it wasn't as good as the fried one but still very tasty.

Bottom line is, we will definitely go again and again and again.

This place won't win any reviews for decor...that said, if you are interested in great food, friendly service and value for money you will be hard pressed to find better dine in or take out

I have lived in the Mt Eden area for a very long time and have passed by the Bangkok Cafe on numerous occasions; it took a particularly cold winter's night to finally taste what the restaurant had to offer. Whilst the decor and atmosphere can hardly be described as pleasing, what is pleasing is the friendly and fast service coupled with a variety of meals for a price that won't break the bank. My girlfriend and I ordered two Tiger beer, a larb thai and a duck dish - that i wish i could remember the name of. Our bill was a reasonable $54.00 and we walked away with a very full stomach and a warmth in our pours that could only be gained from some particularly hot food.Overall the food pales in comparison to some of the more upmarket Thai restaurants like Sawadee but what separates this from Sawadee is the fact that parking is easy, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and you can actually have a nice conversation with your loved ones without the crash, bang and hustle of the incredibly popular Sawadee. Give it a try.
