There’s a new restaurant in Three Lamps called Augustus in the former Belgian Beer Café building, now smartly refurbished with a French feel and a little flower shop makes for a nice entry. The wine is all from France and the staff are almost all French too.
Don’t ask me why but I have always loved Chicken liver parfait, well this one at Augustus is pure heaven, with a wine jelly on top, a sprinkle of rock salt and some toasted baguette on the side. Devine!
My friends main was a confit duck leg, which apparently was rich and tasty. My main was the Lamb rack which the waiter recommended to me and was so soft and succulent and cooked perfectly. The creamy puree and jus were just flavoursome and add a side of frits and a side of seasonal greens and I had the perfect meal.
Then there was dessert, an impeccable rhubarb tarte tatin served with a gently torched creme brulee in the place of custard. The madelines we got for the table I have to say were ok, what was the highlight for me was the lemon meringue tasting sorbet that was served with them. Yummy!
I loved this new edition to Three Lamps and I will definitely be back in a French jiffy!
