A La Carte Menu
Hip Group has set the pace for eating out in Auckland. Each new place they open is better that the last one I went to. Amano in Italian/Spanish means ‘love skill’ or in Japanese means ‘heavenly field’. Either way it’s a great name to call a restaurant and I personally agree this place stands for these things, although in the dish I had – maybe ‘heavenly sea’.I love that even though Amano is enormous and apparently seats 120 people it also keeps some of the architecture of the original building and have added some trendy elements like the amazing front counter which serves as a day time treats cabinet for when you stop by for your work coffee. A previous review didn't rate the food, I didn’t agree, hence it’s best to go yourself and make your own opinion. The food my table ordered was fantastic – huge fish portions, my Kahawai cooked perfectly and amazing sides of new seasons potatoes and brussel sprouts with a kick of chilli that I actually loved. My friends Maomao with gorgeous wee cherry tomatoes was also good. Too big a portion to finish and at a very reasonable price tag. Next time I go back I will try the delectable looking pastas.Only one friend at my table got dessert, the Limoncello tart but I did try it and it was good. The service was a bit slow to start but once we ordered the food came out quickly and clearing our table was timely.
