a few nights ago i went to dinner with my friend to this restaurant that had been recommended to me by others. me and my friend both had the Fettuccine Al Forno for main and the home made Tiramisu for dessert as well Lemoncello and were exceptionally pleased with the meal. it was very appetizing and the portion was very generous and is definitely worth the money. staff and service were also very kind and welcoming. i definitely recommend this restaurant to all =]

The first time me and my family visited Al forno restaurant was nearly month ago. We were impressed with its wood fired oven which you can barely see in New Zealand and we decided to try it. My husband had prossuito, i had Calzone and the kids had vegetarian pizzas. It was very tasty and rich and reminded us of the pizzas we ate in Vicenza, italy. The service was great, very friendly people, nice atmosphere and we decided that that is the restaurant we want to go and recommend to our friends.Last week we have been there for dinner with friends and this time we had Bistecca aglio ,king prawns and some other delicious dishes from the menu and I was supprised with the taste and how generous the dishes are. Also I have to mention the delicious Tiramisu and gelato.we had very good service again and the prices are very reasonable and fair for the amount of food on the plate.Highly recommended!!!!!Cathy

My partner and I tried Al Forno for the first time last night before catching a movie.
I'd seen and heard little about Al Forno except that they had a really good wood-fired pizza offering - that they did.
The italian staff add to the authenticity of the place, and with a good selection of wine and beer (including Peroni), as pizza goes, the Takapuna dining scene has a welcome addition.
I had the Calzone and my partner had the casa nostre - both massive and chock full of fresh, tasty ingredients made in their wood fired oven.
Bit expensive for simple pizza and I'm glad I hadn't ordered anything from the other side of the meal because people seemed to be waiting for ages - but we were happy!
