We ate at the Waterfront as part of our visit to the Maritime Museum & loved it. The kids were very happy with their choice of meals from the kids menu & i was extremely happy with the cost of $10 per child for a main & dessert! There was a wide choice on the adults menu too from snacks to full meals. The portions were substantial...in fact i couldn't finish my delicious spanish omelette!
The staff were extremely helpful & friendly. We were running late for our booking to go sailing so they let us leave & go back a couple of hours later for the kids dessert!
There is lots of seating at the Waterfront, inside & outside & a decent drinks menu so you can enjoy a wine or coffee with friends if you don't intend to eat.
Fantastic!!

My partner and I have passed this place hundreds of times and have never been in until last night. We have been missing out! We were instantly served and shown a table. We sat near the front doors as the back part had all the heaters on and thought it was too hot.The manager offered to turn a heater off for us but we sat near the front doors so we could see the sports on the TV screen.I had the lamb burger and my partner had the fajitas. He,s from Texas,on the border of Mexico and said these were the best tasting fajitas he has found in NZ. We almost had to be rolled out of the place...the portions were huge!! We had 2 drinks each, plus the meals and it came to $75...very good prices! The waitress was a true blue kiwi girl and very friendly and knowledgeable.Nothing was a problem. We met the owner who was a very nice man..very friendly and obliging. He introduced himself and asked how everything was with the meals etc.The only thing that I didn't like was the 2 very loud girls drinking and chain smoking at the outside tables as the smoke came into the restaurant...but we chose to sit near the doors.Food 10/10 Prices 10/10 Staff 10/10 The good looking barman certainly helped lol.We would highly recommend this place to other diners and will definitely be back.

It could have almost been a comedy. Neither our table or the table next to us could attract the attention of any staff. Finally ordered 3 drinks - one completely wrong. Overpriced cake slice. Chicken panini which was of extremely poor quality and chips which were not fresh cooked. A very depressing and unpleasant afternoon experience.

The service may not be the top but it's not bad either. I love the food, the helpfulness of wait staff and the ambiance

I had calamari as a main meal size but found it very tough and not very well presented on the plate. When I mentioned I found it tough the waiter said he would tell the chef but I was offered no replacement or discount. The waiter passed my meal to me in front of another diner instead of bringing it around to my side. Also I think $30 for an very ordinary fish and chip meal is somewhat expensive.

Had a very good experience at the Waterfront Cafe this weekend. We took a friend from Germany there for a farewell dinner, after going for a jetboat ride on the harbour. We were 9 nine adults, 3 children and 2 infants and they catered for our needs very well. They made us all feel welcome and no request was too much for the friendly staff. Food was good. It isn't a 5 star restaurant but is exactly as it claims - a bar and cafe serving really tasty food that's good value for money, with a great view of the water. A few of us had really nice steaks, which were all cooked just how we asked.

We went from Wellington to Auckland to celebrate my husbands 60th with friends & family and made such a good choice with this restaurant. Great service, great view, great atmosphere and we were all impressed with the food, everyone was happy their choice.
Thank you to all at The Waterfront, we will be back in the near future

Nice interior and friendly staff but the food is very low quality.

Frozen chips, fatty cheap meat.

My family and I all felt sick after eating at Waterfront Cafe.

With plenty of tables inside and outside, it was great to be able to get a waterfront seat, despite it being a busy Friday lunchtime. The waiter was great, making an effort to find us a table in a prime spot and ensuring we were comfortable and happy.

The menu offers a good variety including a great selection of gourmet sandwiches and some nice salads. I opted for entree prawns and was delighted that it was actually enough with the side salad, as a main. The smoked chicken Caesar salad was also great.

With good service, reasonable prices (for Auckland's viaduct anyway!) and great views, I'd definitely return to the Waterfront for a meal and/or a drink.

we went to the waterfront cafe for my birthday. my mother and I had the lamb shanks and they were without doubt the worst lamb shanks I have ever tried. They had no flavour and were extremely tough, we practically had to saw the meat off the bones. We sent them back but were only offered another plate full of them which were no better. It is not hard to cook lamb shanks well and I was disgusted with the quality for such a nice looking restaurant. My husband had beef burritos which were filled with what was basically mince bolognaisse, not Mexican beef. I wouldn't eat here again if you paid me. If you do risk waterfront cafe, do not have the lamb shanks. I's have given no stars but the program didn't allow me to go below two.

This place is great! The kids were so impressed with their Ice chocolates. All our coffees have different patterns on top, very pretty indeed. In love with the Seafood Chowder, its def the best chowder that i have ever had.
Service was good, the asian girl who served our table was really friendly and funny (not to mention pretty as well :D) All the other staff was very nice too. We enjoyed our meal n will def be going bck in the near future!

Good food during the day but as a bar/wannabe club at night it's an absolute nightmare. Crowded, hot, smelly and with long lines for drinks there really is no point coming in here on a Friday or Saturday night. You'll have more fun sitting on a bench by the water just metres away from the front door.

table ordered was wonderful. My husband and son were very
impressed with the burgers and well worth the money. The
service was fantastic and the atmosphere, vibrant and

This stylish bar has a great menu. We found the serving staff very friendly and happy to set up a large table for our group.

Unfortunately, the manager is incredibly rude: he brooks no compromises and says so blatantly.

Would we go back again: probably not due to the manager
