I had lunch at Vino Perfavore on Sun 28 Aug - four of us, myself a coeliac I chose your restaurant for the glutenfree options. I had the gluten free wedges shown on your menu - I checked that these were gf and asked about the sourcream and cheese and you advised the sourcream had gluten so that was left off. I asked again of the waitress that the wedges are gf she said yes. Well 3 hours later I had a gluten reaction - I have severe vomiting and diarrhoea as a result of gluten - I had not eaten anything else since lunch. I was on my way to the airport to return to wellington when the reaction started and lasted 2.5 hours - I nearly couldn't get on the plane. I am disappointed that your menu stated gf when obviously the bacon, wedges or its coating, or cheese had gluten in it. gluten allergy is very real to those who have to avoid it - Vino Perfavore, please take care of your future gf customers. a little place with big atmosphere!
we went last Friday night...the place was packed
people wearing the hats supplied by the bar..laughter
belting out from every table..slightly mad but enjoyable
i had the risotto and my man had the godfather (steak)
the food was top notch! we both over indulged as the wine list is huge !!and then totally killed ourselves with the chocolate brownie
which was amazing...I didn't know what to expect with a little Italian
wine bar in orewa ..but we will totally go back there..
total bill price was $106.50 for 6 vino's dinner and dessert
