The Villager serves the full Monteith’s range on tap, as well as an extensive wine selection. It has become a firm favourite of Remuer-ites since its opening more than a year ago.



Friendly and efficient staff serve a simple but satisfying à la carte menu and traditional bar snacks, including what are possibly the best wedges in Auckland – golden and crunchy with creamy honey mustard dipping sauce.



The Villager has one downfall however: the lack of outdoor seating. A claustrophobic courtyard beside the kitchen has the distinct air of a last-minute after thought and makes patrons feel shunted out back. The three coveted street-side tables are small, slanted, and more often than not, unavailable.



This said, however, The Villager is definitely a step-up from your average local and is a great place for casual catch-ups, quick meals and those much-needed after work drinks.
