Its truly emotional finding a place for a feed with steaks that bring tears to the eyes.
I ordered a steak that was 'still moo-ing' and wasnt disappointed. Perfectly pink in the middle. Theres not much more you can say about a quality steak without losing street cred as a man's man.
It was gold - cant wait for round two.
We could not fault this place at all.The service and food were excellent....very authentic atmosphere. Evan (the owner) is one of the friendliest owners we have ever met and makes you feel very welcome.Highly recommend that you visit this place for a relaxing time...and great to take homesick Americans to. AAA+++
Good Food, and Music to boot!
I went to the Mustang Saloon and Grill for the first time last Wednesday night. Much to my suprise they had one of the best live music acts I have seen/heard in years. His name is JADE, and he is fabulous. I know what I am doing on Wednesday nights from now on.
The music isn't the only thing that will keep me coming back though. The service was excellent. I am not a Kiwi, in fact I am from Canada, and we have a very high standard of customer service in Canada. The Mustang was the first place in Auckland that I have experienced true customer service and with a smile. Hats off to you Mustang!
The price was nice change of pace too...it was so great to have a full (large meal) and half a bottle of wine for less than $30 for a change. The prices in this city are way to expensive.
All in all I am super happy to have a well priced, friendly, fun bar to hang out at finally!
Thanks Mustang
All I can say about this bar/restaurant, is thank God someone has opened something in this city that actually lives up to the the phrase 'Hospitality industry'.
My date and I walked into this the Mustang Saloon & Grill and was surprised by a waitress in a cowboy hat actually greeting us...with a smile no less.
The service was friendly and yet unobtrusive and it was obvious that it wasn't just for show. This Canadian waitress actually enjoyed her job!! The decor is great, with license plates surrounding the walls, a huge stag's head behind the bar, and fun phrases throughout the bar and restrooms.
The food was a pleasant surprise as well. The pricing is almost too cheap (don't know how long they can keep that up), but not lacking on quality - big portions and really tasty. Fajitas cost us just $28 bucks for two!! The chicken wings were awesome, and the beer is a true pint for the same price as what everyone else in the area sells in a smaller glass!
I'm giving Mustang Saloon a four out of five instead of full marks, because there is improvement to be made. The room could use some 'warmth', for lack of a better word. Maybe some cushions on the booths, or a fireplace? And we craved a desert, but they were out at the time.
I love this place and plan on making it my local. The pool table is just $1!!
They will see me back soon.
