Went to the Lumsden last night as an entrant in the singer songwriter contest. Nice little place, great having the bar directly onto the outside seating area, friendly staff, could do with some heaters right at the outside edge as the wind was whipping through but overall great.
This place is the worst bar I've been to in my life, the biggest problem i had here was there staff!!! i was at the lumsden at a private function and the bartender made me a drink which was clearly made wrong, probably by his lack of experience and when telling them that the drink did not taste how it should, if made correctly. Both bartenders argued with me and thought I was an idiot when clearly those knuckle heads didn't know what they were doing. They had no customer service skills and were rude on how they dealt with the situation.. to whoever owns the lumsden, change your bar staff!!!
Went for tapas and a drink and although the new fit out is fantastic and the outdoor area to have a drink is great for winter. The food and that staff are a huge let down. Was treated like an idiot for advising there was something wrong with one of the dishes. They were condescending and could not have cared less about keeping the customer happy, instead they decided to argue the point with a paying customer. Would never go back due to not only terribly average food but more so the staffs lack of effective customer service skills in dealing with an issue.
The Lumsden has all the promise of being a great lunch time local, the food is generally good and the staff helpful, friendly and prompt.
The only thing that soils this pleasing experience is the day manager! We have been there 3 x times now and every time the manager has over billed us by at least 2 meals and drinks. On questioning his mistake, time and time again he becomes loudly aggressive to us (the patrons!) and also to his staff! How embarrassing!
Well enough is enough.
Thanks to all the other staff at the Lumsden for giving us a good lunch experience BUT we will not be back till that manager goes!!
Girlfriends and I stopped into the Lumsden for a quick drink last week. The place is amazing. I haven't seen anything like it! Candlelight and chandeliers gave the inside a sexy, romantic glow while the outdoor patio reeked of European cafe chic. We happily perched ourselves in front of the DJ on the outdoor couches and were taken care of by awesome staff. Never had to wait for refills or a food menu.... and speaking of the food you have to try their Peeking Duck pizza, sounds weird, but it was amazing. Go Lumsden, I can't wait to go back!
