Awesome place, bit quiet at first but it filled up later in the night, bar staff very friendly and it turned out to be a very entertaining night, will definitely return to the Fiddler.
The Fiddler Irish Bar is now under NEW MANAGEMENT and has new staff!!!!!
I was in Auckland for two games of the rugby world cup 2011.I went into the Fiddler Irish Bar and after waiting an unreasoanble amount of time (the barperson was on Facebook). No Tap Beer of our choice - no signage saying Beer Out over the Tap. Anyway, 2nd option, no sorry its a bit gassy at the mo.The 3rd option was available. So we parked up at the bar.In walked a person clearly familiar with the barperson (lets assume a local). The price of the same beer that I had ordered was a whole 3.00 cheaper. Then the barperson started going on about a bar tab owing by (name in expletives). This was in clear hearing of all 3 of us in the bar.The bar started to full up in this mid afternoon. The service was consistent,in that it was poor.I bet the Facebook account got a great thorough going over unlike any cleaning duties. I am sorry, but this bat lacks any management, leadership judging by this,my first impression and my last. Rachel Brebner-Cork Ireland
Woot!! Had a great time at The Fiddler last weekend...went there with some mates...we were celebrating my 21st the Saturday before and my mates on the Sunday. The staff there were really friendly and even sang us two songs ;) will definitely be going back! the Irish bartender is hot too
what a pity you were treated so badly at the Fiddler Graeme... ...sad cos it was a great place for the craic...
Was on holiday in auckland on the wkend went to the fiddlers bar & have to say had a awesum time the staff were friendly. Will be back.
Don't go here. Bar manager 'Tracey' is an absolute disgrace, swearing loudly at patrons - telling them to "get the F out, if they don't have a drink in their hand". When I calmly asked for her name to report her to the owner (because she shouldn't be talking to patrons like that) she called our group "a bunch of fat homo's", knocked my drink out of my hands onto the floor and had me removed from the premises, and was unrepentant in the face of witnesses and the other barman "Sam" who knew she was out of control. Don't go here - there are plenty of other places with friendly happy staff. And yes, i'm lodging a complaint with the police and city council.
I really love the Fiddler! It is under the old management again and seems to be how it was in the old days! I really think this is a great irish bar to go to! The staff are friendly and no matter what day of the week you can always have a good time! Go and check it out!
