I went to the Elephant Wrestler for a few drinks with my colleagues. We had a great night out. Just a casual night out with a couple of drinks and nibbles. The Salt and Pepper Prawns were amazing. They serve them with jalapeno aioli, which gives it a nice spice to it. The pizza breads are tasty too and have a good size for the price you pay for it. The staff is great. Smiley, chatty and really friendly. Great pub, good atmosphere! We will be back soon.

Ventured out to the EW for the first time and sad to say I was pretty disappointed. No doubt its an improvement from the old copper room but the decor is very average,pink, weird and will date fast. Nice court yard but could not use it due to terrible weather. Had the meatball and prawn starter. Meatballs were tough as nails only aided by being drenched in soy sauce so almost too salty to eat. Prawns were however great. Overall not a bad experience but The Elephant Wrestler in Takapuna was still a let down.
Haven't been to the Elephant Wrestler since it changed from the Copper Room. Seemed ok, no drama and overall friendly.
Since it's opened I've spent a few afternoon's chilling in the garden bar, enjoying the sunshine, great entertainment and was impressed by the quality of the food. The Elephant Wrestler would be my first choice venue in Takapuna to spend the afternoon with friends.
Thursday night on an awesome summers day and the Elephant Wrestler was going off. There's two distinctive areas - the indoor (restaurant) area where families, work mates were all enjoying a meal and then the large outdoor courtyard space.
Staff really friendly and table service (even outside) very efficient - didn't have anything to eat but the fries did look great...next time.
Good to see the Elephant Wrestler well-patroned - especially in summer, Takapuna is the place to be on the shore.
Checked out The Elephant Wrestler on Friday night. Everybody is talking about the great new bar in Takapuna, so we thought we need to give it a shot. Great pub. The atmosphere was just amazing. They were really busy, but we still managed to get a table. The waitress spotted the last table outside in the courtyard. Beautiful out there. The plants all over the wall look unique. The staff was really good, trying their best to look after us, even it was so busy. Always smiling - no sign of stress. The food was tasty and well presented. We had a carving board - huge - a whole chicken we got. We used to go to the Copper Room a lot, but I like the new place so much more. Open space, not too hot inside, great outside area. Will be back.
Came to The Elephant wrestler on Friday last week had an awesome meal with a group of friends we just came in for dinner but decided to hang out when the band came on as the pub had such a great vibe and was so busy didn't thank you the next day for the strawberry daiquiri hangover though.....! will be back soon for some beers in the courtyard
