Having been to many gay bars in my years and having traveled around often, and please, I'm not saying that I been around, but this place is my go to bar in Auckland. Very intimate setting, small bar but with lots of character, it'd help you much with meeting people. There are many seats throughout the place to sit and relax while you're having a drink alone as well. But I'm sure you'll won't end the night without befriending someone. The staff are welcoming, friendly and are quick with your drinks. The best part of this place is that you become the dj and get to choose what songs/music videos to play and the jukebox is free and relevant with today's hits unlike Sydney's Stonewall. Nevertheless, it's the bar you want to be at before you start a wild night at Family bar and dance your sins away. Go Eagle!

Absolutely fantastic, unassuming pub. Have been going here for quite a few years now and its the only place in Auckland that captures the true feel of a proper English pub - somewhere where the bar staff know your name, the regulars are all mates and the owner is friendly and quite often will treat you to some great piano playing! Not to mention the jukebox is free, and FILLED with Amy Winehouse! Whether its a pint after work or an all-nighter, The Eagle is my go-to place - and I love the fact that even though its technically classified as a gay pub its not hostile to hetero or bisexual clientele unlike other places I have visited. All are welcome, and the vibe is great.

Lame Lame Lame. Nothing else...

This place used to be great when the UK/Irish boys ran it. The current manager is underachieving, offensive and arrogant and the owner is a vile old queen coffin dodging his way to nowhere. I would save your money and stay at home or go to Family bar!
