Finally I was lucky enough to try this long standing Japanese establishment and I wasn't disappointed! This is such a great little hidden restaurant at the top of Queen Street that as soon as we walked in the door we were whisked to the nearest table with a friendly smile. After browsing the menu we decided to try an array of small dishes to try such as edamame green soy beans, pork belly, beef tongue steak, squid with soy sauce just to name a few! All the authentic tastes were delicious and it’s always fun to share so many small plates! I would definitely recommend that you get in early to avoid disappointment!
Tanuki's Cave is one of Aucklands best kept secrets. Ask anyone thats been and they'll tell you its amazing. Great food and prices, and an awesome atmosphere. Worth making reservations as is usually booked out which can result in a wait for a seat
