The food may have been been good in the past but it's not now if our lunch last Saturday is anything to go by. Only one of the four of us enjoyed his meal - the big breakfast. The lamb shanks were average but bland, my steak was of reasonable quality but bland with a very generic "jus" with bland and boring potatoes and an even more bland and boring salad. The Thai Curry was neither "Thai" nor "curry" - tasted more like creamy tomato soup. Prices weren't cheap either. We could have lunched at CinCin for less. Hope they go back to good quality, tasty, reasonably-priced pub food. It is, after all, our "local". (At least, the bar staff are friendly.)
Decent relaxed atmosphere with a variety of 'locals', decor middle of the range i.e. not too 'pubsy' not too bar. Good TV screens throughout for sports viewing which brought me there. However, I was looking for somewhere to take a group of people for the Tua vs Cameron fight, enquired at the Slip Inn and was immediately put off by the over inflated door charge. We ended up at a pub 5 minutes up the road where entry was free, beer cheaper, and atmosphere just as welcoming. Have not been back to Slip Inn as this charging mentality put me off.
The Slipp Inn has always been my favourite 'local'. The food is exceptional, and the portions are generous. Bar staff friendly. Bathrooms clean. Nice atmosphere, with a mixed range of people....but the food is what gets me back time after time.
My friend and I went to the Slip Inn last Saturday to try out before a movie. We ordered garlic bread and I had a BLT and my friend had shark and taties. Everything was served promptly and was hot and we got a HUGE meal and it was delicious. Will definately be going there again before the movies.
I love going to the Slipp Inn, great staff, great music, freat food, great company, but I am a little dissapointed with them. On Friday 11th April I received my first grptxt message from the Slipp Inn advising me that a $50 bar voucher would be given to the first 5 people that showed them the text message at 5pm. I rounded up some friends and we left out social club at the office and went down to the pub. Upon arriving there at 4.45 we were informed by the Owner/Manager and a very stressed bar lady that he had left out the word "before" and the free bar tabs had already gone. False advertising? Managers/Owners right? Who knows, but I do know this. If you receive a grptxt from them advising specials like this, take it with a pinch of salt. Its a complete waste of time and we certainly wont be supporting them again on a Friday night.
Slipp Inn to me is more than a sports bar - it's a fantastic combination of a relaxing atmosphere, nice cold beer, friendly staff, all coupled with amazing food at a bargain price.
My personal favourite is the 'Chicken Camembert Burger' with a whole chicken breast and Slipp Inn's trade-mark seasoned fries. Ask for a side of aioli with that and for $14 you're set!
For smokers, like myself, there is a covered outside area with TVs and extremely warm patio heaters. Inside is a glorious fireplace with a sofa primely positioned in front.
I'd recommend Slipp Inn for all age groups, for a great night out with friends, without breaking the bank.
Hi, I had such a fantastic night at the Slipp Inn. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food is exceptional considering it is classed as bistro pub food. You can rock and roll until 3am and the security make sure you are safely in a taxi. I reckon this place is a must. It saves spending money on a taxi to go to the city - why bother when you can have so much fun here - I also caught up with alot of friends I hadnt seen for a while. Keep it up you run a great bar!
I think the general idea of making the smokers puff outside, is to stop the smoke from wafting in and affecting non-smokers' health. So, to open up all the bi-fold doors - thus removing the wall between those that choose to smoke and those that don't - completely contradicts that intention (and the law). Yuck.
