Love heading to Skysports bar & grill every friday after work, 40 beers on tap and the food is great, love the fact that there is soo many large tvs and lots of different sports playing to keep everyone entertained, (great for watching all blacks games) bar staff are always very friendly and the happy hour/hours between 5-7pm is great, only $5 dollars for a beer and that includes craft beers from all over NZ
All in all a great bar, kinda reminds me of bars over in America. (im not american by the way lol)
The bar is fine. Concept is good. However the service was terrible.
As we walked into the Bar there was only one other table seated and we waited patiently to be acknowledged by the bartender who turned out to be the New Manager on his second day. After a few good minutes the chap said ' i'll be with you in a bit' and went back to something on the till. After finally greeting us my friends ordered a couple of drinks and tried to make conversation with him. He seemed very dis-interested in what my friend had to say. We sat down with a drink and noticed the very strange Irish music and thought it didn't fit with the theme at all. Then when the food came out to the other table and me and my friend were looking at it saying very loudly how nice it look but we didn't get offered any. Even more so when we finish our drinks the chap came and cleared the glasses and said 'thanks' indicating to me that it was my time to leave even though i wanted to try another beer on tap. This chap needs to say hello to people when they enter the bar. Real pity who ever is in charge of hiring hasn't done a good job here. swing and a miss.
Terrible service and just a word of advice guys, chilli cheese fries are supposed to have beef chilli on them, not mayonnaise with some chilli powder.
Service was like we were inconveniencing them to be ordering food. Awfully rude of us to want food and drinks from a restaurant.
Won't be repeating that experience at Skysport Grill. O'Hagan's next door which might not be a five star restaurant will at least give you great service and your food will arrive quickly.
SkySport Grill was appalling.
There were 13 of us for lunch.
Half the menu was not available
We ordered typical normal easy to prepare food like fish and chips, etc..
After 50 minutes I asked for an ETA as we all had to return to the office for 2pm meetings and got a rude response from the waitress.
The response of " its not our fault you brought a group in, and the chef got all your orders at once" is not a valid reason for the delay.
There was no explanation or setting of expectations when our orders were taken, and waiting close to an hour for standard easy pub food is not acceptable.
SkySport Grill was not full, there was only one other group of 7 people.
Customer service was rude and dismissive, and sorry- you are a restaurant- you provide Friday lunch, and if you cant match demand and service- that is not the customers' issue, and it wasnt as though we were asking for anything difficult or out of the ordinary.
And apparently you advertise that the Chef is the one who works at the Foodstore- looking at the quality of what was served- I cant believe that!
Sky Grill is located in Auckland Viaduct Harbour. It features 25+ sports viewing screens and with a vast variety of 40+ beers on tap to choose from.
The food was fantastic, great flavours and well presented. Service was very good. We will definately visit again!
Also FREE Wifi! That means you can go in with your tablet or laptop for a 'business meeting' and still get work done while you drink great beer and watch great sport!
SkySport Grill is a sports nuts mecca - so many screens you just don't know where to look. Nothing else quite like it in Auckland - but what is really surprising about this viaduct venue is the range of beer on tap. You don't see Fat Yak and Old Speckled Hen on many sports bar menus - for this reason alone Skysport grill is worth seeking out.
