My partner and I went to this restaurant tonight on a date. The restaurant looked nice, friendly staff but the food was extremely disappointing.
I spent a lot of time in spain last year and the food here was not that authentic and I didn't get that Spanish feeling at all.

Won't go back :(

We went to Serafin on a Saturday night. We used a groupon voucher and had high expectations as we heard good things about it. Unfortunately we were disappointed.

The place was nicely designed, with beautiful plywood ceiling and intimate ambiance, and the service was good. We really enjoyed the dessert, especially the marinated bread which was beautiful.

However, the restaurant really let itself down with its food, which is the most important thing -- The calamari consisted of 3 squid rings deep fried, with some mayonaise sauce that they re-used for the potatas bravas. The meatballs were boring. The smoked salmon boring. The croquettes were very good.

While I understand that when you run promotions you need to watch your costs, but it also presents a chance to impress potential regulars. Unfortunately we were not impressed. I would perhaps come back for dessert but won't be back for a meal.

Your reviewer is on the money - been to Serafin Cafe twice now and the chicken thighs are definitely worth visit after visit ... sensational. Like you, I do hope Serafin get's their alcohol license sorted without too much fuss...can't believe how selfish people can be.

just back from a great meal at serafin. Not very busy (but there is a wedding on y'know) so service was really punctual and the waitress that we had very helpful especially with some of the tapas explanations.
The highlight for me was the rice casserole with seafood and if you have room, try the baked custard - awesome!
After this experience, I'm sure we'll be heading to Serafin a few more times this year.

What a cool, cool spot! Had heard about the troubles Serafin were having of late and it was just the incentive I needed to go and give them some support.
I love tapas and to be honest I think it's one cuisine type that Auckland doiesnt really 'do' well - glad to see in Serafin there's now a true title contender!
Too many good options but there was a potato dish that was to die for and the deserts - incredible.
Serafin is well worth the trip to Mt Eden for sure. I wish them well!
