Loved by the locals, and probably one of the only decent cafe's on the Point. Consistently has great coffee and a good selection of muffins and cakes too. Recommended as a great place for the weekend or before a movie at the Theatre next door.
Sausalito is a nice little cosmopolitan styled cafe situated in Northcote Point, on Aucklands Northshore. Conveniently located next door to the Bridgeway Theatre (infact they even share a door!) Sausalitos is a good place to visit before or after the movies. Their food selection offers something for everyone.
Sausalito seriously needs to improve their service. I've been there three times (because different groups wanted to go there) and each time the majority of staff were clueless and hopeless - once they were even down-right rude. Sausalito has a great setting and good food, so it's a real disappointment that they let themselves down by hiring poor-quality staff.
I've been to Sausalito Cafe for brunch a couple of times. I really enjoyed the food on both occassions, had a delicious french toast with banana and bacon - excellent combination and well cooked. The last time we went, my need for caffeine was immense. Imagine my dismay when we were told the coffee machine was on the blink - fortunately it turned out they had accidently turned it off!! The lady who I think is the boss is excellent, unfortunately you can tell when shes not there as the younger waiting staff aren't quite as attentive. Overall Sausalito is a good cafe and I will definitely go back.
Sausalito Cafe is a nice cafe and on this occasion, the staff were very friendly even though it was fairly busy. Looking at moving to the area so would be happy for the Sausalito Cafe to be our local!
Wow, what's happened at Sausalito Cafe? ... the staff have suddenly become friendly! I've been here many times (because I live nearby) - and like many others, grumble about the aloof non-smiling stance that wait staff seem to favour here.
But, on the last few visits, the service has been very friendly and accommodating. A pleasant surprise and one that makes visiting Sausalito Cafe a more pleasurable experience. Keep it up guys!
I visit this place often (because I live nearby). Often, we get frustrated with the lack of friendliness from the wait staff, who can come across a little surly.
But, that aside, the food isn't bad and it would to be rare to have to wait ages for a meal to arrive -- no easy feat, considering these guys cater to the cinema patrons, who flock here for a meal or drink before a movie. Breakfast (and coffee) here is good - try the Eggs Benedict; it aint half bad!
