A mates daughter heading overseas so they booked into the Saint Bar, nice place, good service, they provided a band (vertigo) as well, good classic rock kept us going all night, love my music. Would recommend this place, shame about the smokers smoke blowing in the door though.

Saint is a cool bar to chill out at, as long as your not paying!! Like an oasis in the desert it comes from nowhere nestled in between pizza hut and a waffle house on browns bays main drag.

The bizarre positioning is understood as you walk through the bar and into the flax restaurant where your met with awesome views of the beach. Ive tried lamb shanks there and they were sharp, very sharp. Not quite the same without mum's special herbs and spices but filled the spot while being a very tasty dish.

The price tags are steep which is a bit strange, but you could take the bar and place it in the viaduct quite easily. They seem to have good customer loyalty which suggests people are happy with a quality spot in the backyard without trekking to town.

good spot.

Today our family went to the Flax Resturant to celebrate our mothers 74th birthday.I suggested we went there as we live locally and have enjoyed dining there before. Unfortunatley for my mother she has a severe reaction to garlic and cannot have her food cooked with it or food placed on cooking impliments that have had garlic on it.We asked if she could have something prepared for her without garlic. The waitress was really nice and said for my mother to choose any meat she would like and it would be cooked for her especially. The manager in charge then came up and said no they couldnt do anything special. We said surely you must have a fry pan that the lunch could be cooked in? But she wasn't going to help us so we said we would go somehere else. The manager went away came back and said the only thing they could do in a pan was fish and also bacon & eggs. My mother ordered her lunch after feeling embarrassed over the issue. This is not a complaint as such as they did help in the end. What I cannot understand is why is it so difficult for a chef to prepare a meal without garlic? There are alot of people with allergies and I feel if you are in that industry surely you should be able to accomodate peoples special request within reason.

Flax: nice ambience and atmosphere especially on a good summers night. Cuisine is pretty good, presentation and service are great.

My friends and I often catch up at Saint, whether just for a wine, or through to Flax for a meal. While I haven't tried the dinner menu (yet) I have had several breakfasts and lunches and always been really happy with both the food and the service!

The staff are very helpful and friendly, there is a great selection of wines and the atmoshere is great. Browns Bay, or for that matter, the Shore really needed a place like this, funky, relaxed, friendly and one that makes use of the view of the beach!!!

I love the couches outside overlooking Browns Bay beach and park...well done guys!

Went to Saint & Flax restaurant for dinner for my birthday after being recommended by a friend. When I rang they told me $20-$30 for mains, but it's more like $25-$35 with most in the high 20s.

But it's very very nice, and quite different. Funky interior and music, great food, and the doors open out to Browns Bay beach.

Would recommend you come here for dinner, or during the day when you can sit outside on the cool couches. I've been to the bar as well (The Saint) which is also really cool, and is getting really popular. For dinner, definitely worth travelling to little old Browns Bay for. We had a great time.
