The first time I walked into Rock Fire, we waited five minutes at the bar and still no-one acknowledged us so we left. It was busy but I still think this is inexcusable.

Stupidly, we went back again (I try to support local business where I can so wanted to give them a second chance). Despite not being busy, it still took at least two minutes standing at the bar for us to be acknowledged. And then it was with a sour face and no pleasantries... a taste of things to come unfortunately. The service was shocking throughout the night... the main waitress was surly and short, everything took a long time, and the other young girl was wearing tiny cut-off denim shorts which I really don't believe is suitable attire for a waitress in a bar/grill.

The decor is nice enough but because of the open kitchen/grill it was roasting in there and customers had to ask for the doors to be opened to get air through. Despite it being all diners (ie. no bar customers) and all older (ie. late 20s +), the TVs blared music videos which just seemed a little inappropriate for people dining. It's like they don't quite know whether they want to be a bar or a grill but they're certainly not succeeding in being both (which many places do very well).

The food was average, particularly given it wasn't cheap. The chicken breast was smothered in about a cupful of green sauce and the risotto it was served on was tasteless. My partner's mixed grill was tiny and not tender (let's just say, a steak knife would have been useful!). However, our bread & dips starter was lovely (and large) and the pizzas that others had ordered, did look and smell very good.

There were no problems using our Entertainment Book voucher so that was a good thing!

Even though they are in the 2012-13 Entertainment Book, we will NOT be returning to Rock Fire again.
