Queens Ferry Hotel Information

Queens Ferry Hotel was established in 1865 and is regarded as the oldest serving pub in New Zealand. 140 years on, Queens Ferry Hotel now offers a gastro-pub menu in Central Auckland. A healthy range of Monteith's beer, popular New Zealand wines and bar staff who are as warm and friendly as the olde world charm of the surroundings.

After many years and thousands of dollars of loyal service I was told by a surly barman on Sunday July 1 we could not sit and have drinks at a particular table unless we were also eating. There were four of us - half the custom at the time. Despite my protest the barman insisted we had to move. So we did - down the road to the QF Tavern on Queen Street where we were made very welcome. My friends and I have enjoyed the Queens Ferry up till now but loyal patronage clearly no longer means anything. The boycott is on...Jock Anderson.

We've lived in Auckland for five yearsnow but hadn't found this little gem. Great service, average prices, fabulous food (and not just your average stuff) in aq great ambience. Sorry we had to go - but we'll be back.

I remember going to the Queens Ferry back in 1960's as an 18yr old. Went with a friend who was quite a bit older than myself, she said that it was a good place to meet blokes. She wasn't wrong, but they were sure not blokes that you would take home to your mother. The floor was awash with booze and fights that you would not believe. No police were called, the patrons just sorted it out themselves, then they just went back to their drinking. Amazing place, not the right place for an 18yr old but an experience that I have never forgotten. The only reason for this review is that I was having a conversation with a colleague and couldn't remember the name of the pub, Queens Ferry, he kept saying the Occidental and I said NO, it was a few doors away from the Occidental, and yes it was the QF. Nothing today like the old days.
