we are locals and ate at The Prospect of Howick last night with some overseas guests, very pricey (mains in $30's) , the lamb was good and same for the pizza. But the fish was overcooked and the tortilini looked and tasted like supermarket pasta definitely not homemade which you would expect for the size and price of the meals. The atmosphere was fine a mixture of pub and restaurant and the staff were very helpful - But We left feeling disappointed, confused and out of pocket. We went home for dessert. Also the entrance has really awful chalk board signs looks like a backpackers Not going back to the prospect in a hurry

With central city prices, this suburbian pub/restaurant is a little on the pricey side for the quality. The Prospect of Howick menu was diverse and offered up some tasty descriptions. The meals combinations were great but two of our meals turned up slightly overcooked (fish and pork). The pizza however was huge and spot on and definitely good value! And the service was superb ... they staff made you feel valued and would be enough to make me go back. The other half of the restaurant is a bar and both times I've been in there's been good live covers bands. I think the rospect of Howick is a good place for Friday night drinks after work with a few pizzas enjoying the music, but I wouldn't recommend it for fine dining.

Had dinner at Prospect of Howick last night what a disappointment, this was the worse meal ever. I had the snapper, it came with some kind of Minestrone, with a small piece of Snapper with grated Parmesan cheese on the top of the fish UGH I wonder if the chef has tried this.?? The price of this dish was $31 ( because it didn't come with Potatoes we ordered a side dish of the cream Potatoes $7 )I did have a word with the chef. but do they listen !!!!. Cheers Patricia.
