Great bar. great staff. Manager knows whats hes doing. Decor at the Playhouse dated though
Hi there, think the Saturday night review was a little over the top. I mean what's old these days! Who wants to look at leftovers on peoples plates: I stuck to checking out the menu :)
Fridays are great; a good mixture of a crowd, the heaters going outside, not many bars have a big outdoor seating area.
As for food; great for pre-show meals, very fast and efficient considering how packed out the place was, a good mixture of helpful staff.
All round we had a great night, enjoyed the live entertainment and plan to go back for the quiz nights. Happy hour specials were pretty good too!
Hi, I think 2 is a bit harsh. I popped in to the Playhouse Bar and Brasserie last Friday night and had a fantastic evening - the location is ideal if you are going to a show at the Town Hall or the Aotea Centre. I found the food to be good value and tasty (especially the deserts) and the $15 jugs are fantastic value.
The Playhouse used to have great live bands and a good crowd. Once I would have given 4 stars, but these days a lonely 1 star. The location is fantastic, but much more needs to be done to restore the potential.
Two stars? - I think that's generous. You'd think with such a great location they could do a lot more. The Playhouse Bar and Brasserie is in dire need of a total overhaul!
